NOTICE OF APPLICATION REVISED
PROJECT INFORMATION
This City of Tukwila has filed environmental review (SEPA), Shoreline Substantial
Development, Shoreline Variance and Shoreline Tree Removal applications for the construction
of a pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the Green River to link the urban center with West Valley
Highway and the transportation hub of the Sounder Commuter Rail /Amtrak Station. The
bridge will provide a connection from the intersection of Baker Blvd and Christensen Rd., along
the Green River Trail to the Sound Transit property line at the Sounder Commuter Rail /Amtrak
Station. The projects includes re- channelizing Christianson Rd between Baker Blvd. and the
Green River Trail to add a bicycle lane. A shoreline variance is needed as work will take place
on the Green River Trail, but the trail cannot be widened to the City's adopted shoreline trail
standard of eighteen feet. Trees will be removed in the shoreline jurisdiction in order to
construct the bridge. The trail design is being revised to use fill to widen the trail rather than a
retaining wall.
Projects applied for include: E15 -0008 (SEPA); L15 -0033, shoreline substantial development;
L15 -0034, shoreline tree removal; and L15 -0035, shoreline variance.
Other known required permits include: JARPA (Joint Aquatic Resources Permit Application)
Studies provided with the applications include: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment;
Draft Biological Assessment; Wetlands Delineation Report; Findings of Asbestos - Containing
Material and Lead -Based Paint Survey;
An environmental checklist has been submitted with the studies identified above.
