HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-05-26 Special MinutesTukwila, ;;ash. May 26, 1926. A special meeting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was callea to order by Mayor Bergquist on the above date at 8:10 P. M. for the purpose of considerinn ways and means for providing an adequate water supply for the Town of Tukwila. Present were Mayor G. C. Bergquist and Councilmen G. V. Harrison T. R. Naylor, h. 7. Greene, J. A. Kunz and ±red Nord. Mr. E. E. Lutz apnearea before the Council and presented a a petition callin the attention of the Council to a proposed new water district and protesting against same and aakir_g that action be taken to call a special election at an early crate for the purpose of voting on the question of Bonds in an amount not to exceed the sum of p30.000.00, to consist or 4;ii General Obligation Bonds, and 419,000.00 Local improvement and /or General Utility Bonas for tae purpose of securing, an adequate water System for the Town of Tukwila. An informal discussion was then held relative to the peti- tion after which it was moved, seconded and carried that the petition be accepted by the Council. Councilman C -reene then presented Resolution No. 29 and requested that it be read by the Clerk, after which reading, Councilman Greene moved that it be adonted, seconded by Council- man Harrison. Question was called for by Councilman Harrison, which being refused by Mayor Bergquist was put by Councilman Greene and the Resolution adopted by a unanimous vote. The Mayor refusing to sign the Resolution, it was so noted and signed in open Council by all the members of tree Council. A. request was then made by the Council for a committee to check the signatures on the petitions, which being, refused by the Mayor was appointed by the Council. The committee consisted of Councilman Harrison and Naylor and Messers Henke anc Lutz and the Clerk. Tne Council took a short recess while t:ae Committee c hecked the petition with the re :istration books of the Town, after which the committee reportea t..at the petition contained J.05 bona fide signatures against a total registration of 205 voters.
