Form F.P. 113 • Moira Bradshaw - RE: Seafood City From: "Nicholas Lee" To: "Moira Bradshaw" Date: 08/18/2010 2:42 PM Subject: RE: Seafood City CC: "Wayne Johnson" , "Patrick Burns" , "Josh Kimmel" Hi Moira, Page 1 of 2 The permit into the City now is only to prepare the space for temporary storage use by Seafood City in the remainder of the old Mervyn's building, likely only through December 2010. (ie for fire protection, lighting, egress, and access into the storage space.) Seafood City has been very successful and broken their company single -day sales record 3 times since opening in July and need temporary storage to keep up with the high demand for their goods. They are not willing to pay the rent on that space long term. The tenant has told us that they experience a higher demand for the first few months when they open a new supermarket in a new market (like when they expanded to Nevada) but that the demand settles down afterwards, once the initial appetite (pun intended) is satisfied. Westfield's goal is still to lease out the remaining 2nd floor of Mervyn's to a retail user, which will require the remaining Mervyn's space on the west & northwest on the 1St floor to be available for access. We will come in for another permit at that time in the future, and it will require your /Planning's review. I hope this addresses your question. Please call me if it doesn't. Thanks.
