The tube steel posts are bolted to the floor and include a lateral brace connection to the concrete slab of the floor above. The tubes are detailed with slip connections at the top to prevent them from acting as vertical load- bearing columns. RIM WING; CfnFS The project is designed in accordance with the following building and material codes: BUILDING CODE • International Building Code, 2003 Edition (IBC 2003) with reference to ASCE 7 -02 MATERIAL CODES • Structural Steel: Load and Resistance Factor Design Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, Third Edition, American Institute of Steel Construction, AISC 2003. I C)ADINC, CRITFRIA A summary of the project- specific loading criteria follows. GRAVITY LOADING The posts are designed to support a maximum gravity load of 1000 pounds. This load is from 4 -foot wide panels attached to either side of the post with each panel weighing 500 pounds. LATERAL DESIGN CRITERIA Big Exciting Building, Seattle, Washington The lateral load on the posts consists of 5 psf pressure as required for interior partitions. The post design also considers the eccentric loading that results from having a panel on only one side. Seismic loads do not govern the design.
