RE: Permit No. D11 -113
PAK RESIDENCE
5724 PAMELA DR S TUKW
Dear Permit Holder:
In reviewing our current records, the above noted permit has not received a final inspection by the City of Tukwila Building
Division. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and/or the National
Electric Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the provisions of these codes shall expire by limitation and
become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit has not begun within 180 days from the issuance date
of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work has
begun for a period of 180 days. Your permit will expire on 06/17/2012.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
1) Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 - 431 -2451 to schedule for the next or final inspection.
Each inspection creates a new 180 day period, provided the inspection shows progress.
-or-
2) Submit a written request for permit extension to the Permit Center at least seven (7) days before it is due to
expire. Address your extension request to the Building Official and state your reason(s) for the need to extend
your permit.
The Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve one extension of up to 180 days. If it is determined that your
extension request is granted, you will be notified by mail.
In the event you do not call for an inspection and/or receive an extension prior to 06/17/2012, your permit will become null
and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
c

REVIEWED FOR
CODE COMPLIANCE
APPROVED
JUL 2 8 2011
BUILDof
NGTukwila
DIVISION
I am applying a permit to build an attached shed, a detached shed, and a lean -to -roof.
It is important to note that the three structures have already been built. I am merely backtracking to be
in compliance. I knew that I needed to apply for the attached shed but was misinformed by the original
builder who told me that building the attached structure was already planned by their architect but was
reduced to meet the declining economy. So, I naturally thought that they already had the permit to
build. Since I never applied for a building permit in my life, my thoughts were simply naive.
For the detached shed, the problem is the setback. The detached shed is only two feet from the back
property line. It is important to note that all of my three adjacent neighbors and about 10 neighbors in
my immediate area all have detached storage within one or two feet from their back property line. So, I
am surprised to find out that I am not in compliance. After a full inspection, I hope you can see that it is
built solidly: having studs and joist every 16 inches and using 4 X 4 pillars.
According to a city inspector the lean -to -roof needs more reinforcement and a permit.
I wish the Great City of Tukwila consider keeping the existing structures because they are built with good
workmanship and safety in mind. I am willing to build further and add reinforcements as will be
recommended by the City.
Sincerely,
Jae Pak

Dear Permit Applicant:
In reviewing our current application files, it appears that your permit applied for on 04/25/2011, has not been
issued by the City of Tukwila Permit Center. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code,
Uniform Plumbing Code and /or National Electrical Code every permit application not issued within 180 days
from the date of application shall expire and become null and void. Your permit application will expire on
10/22/2011.
If you still plan to pursue your project, a written request for extension of your application must be submitted to the
Permit Center at least seven (7) days before it is due to expire. Address your extension request to the Building
Official and state your reason(s) for the need to extend your permit application. If it is determined that an
extension is granted, your application will be extended for an addtional 90 days from the expiration date and you
will be notified by mail.
In the event that we do not receive your written request for extension or request was denied, your permit
application will expire, become null and void and your project will require a new permit application, plans and
specifications, and associated fees.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please review the following comments listed below and submit your revisions accordingly.
1) The new detached shed on the north side of the property does not meet the 10 -foot rear yard
setback requirement. This structure will need to be either removed or relocated to meet the
requirements of the Tukwila zoning code. The side yard setback requirement is 5 feet on the
east and west sides of the property. Note that the maximum building footprint for this lot is
2,280 square feet.
If you have any questions related to the comments above, Jaimie Reavis is the planner assigned to the file
and can be reached at 206 - 431 -3659.

AFFIDAVIT IN LIEU OF CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION
STATE OF WASHINGTON)

COUNTY OF ICING )
[please print name]
, states as follows:
PERMIT NO: b
1. -I have made application for a permit from the City of Tukwila, Washington.
2. I understand that state law requires that all building construction contractors be registered with the
State of Washington. The exceptions to this requirement are stated under Section 18.27.090 of the
Revised Code of Washington, a copy of which is printed on the reverse side of this Affidavit. I have
read or am familiar with RCW 18.27.090.
3. I understand that prior to issuance of a permit for work which is to be done by any contractor, the
City of Tukwila must verify either that the contractor is registered by the State of Washington, or that
one of the exemptions stated under RCW 18.27.090 applies.
4. In order to provide verification to the City of Tukwila of my compliance with this requirement, I
hereby attest that after reading the exemptions from the registration requirement of RCW 18.27.090,
I consider the work authorized under this permit to be exempt under number /3 , and will therefore
not be performed by a registered contractor.
5. I understand that the licensing provision of RCW 19.28.161 through 19.28.271 shall not apply to
persons making electrical installations on their own property or to regularly employed employees
working on the premises of their employer. The proposed electrical work is not for the construction
of a new building for rent, sale or lease.
I understand that I may be waiving certain rights that I might otherwise have under state law in any decision
to engage an unregistered contractor to perform construction work.
