Egress 1. The cover sheet indicates this to be S -1 occupancy for the warehouse. However the egress plan is specified as an S -2 warehouse. The travel distance for S -1 is 250 feet, not the 400 feet indicated for S -2. Revise the occupancy type to be consistent with the cover sheet. Please see revised occupancy type and egress distances on sheet A0.1. 2. The travel distance and Common paths of egress travel shown are not in compliance with S -1 occupancy. At the back of the west wall, that path of travel dead ends and shall be required to extend that egress path to an exit(s). Travel distance shall not exceed 250 feet. This shall be consistent with the rack permit plans. All common paths of egress shall be provided with emergency illumination. Please see the revised egress path on sheet A0.1. Per our conversation we are utilizing an existing exit in the SW corner of the warehouse. In coordination with the racking permit plan, the shelves along the west wall are elevated to create a North - South access tunnel. 3. Egress plan is not to scale "NTS ". Provide egress plans that are to scale. Dimension all egress paths. Coordinate egress plan with the rack permit plan. Please see revised sheet A0.1. Plans are now to 1/16" = 1' -0" scale. Please address the following comments in an itemized format with revised plans, specifications and/or other applicable documentation. (GENERAL NOTE) PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size). (If applicable) Structural Drawings and structural calculations sheets shall be original signed wet stamped, not copied.) 1. The cover sheet indicates this to be S -1 occupancy for the warehouse. However the egress plan is specified as an S -2 warehouse. The S -1 is more typical of this type of business where imports consist of a combustible boxes, pallets and products where S -2 would be non - combustible products and low hazard. The travel distance for the S -1 is 250 feet, not the 400 feet indicated for S -2. Therefore the travel distance exceeds travel distance for the warehouse. Revise the occupancy type to be consistent with the cover sheet. (IBC 311.2) 2. The travel distance and Common paths of egress travel shown are not incompliance with S1 occupancy. Common path of egress travel is that portion of exit access which the occupants are required to traverse before two separate and distinct paths of egress travel to where two exits are available. At the back of the west wall, that path of travel dead ends and shall be required to extend that egress path to an exit(s). More over the travel distances exceed the required distance for this occupancy. Revise the plans to show the length of a common path of egress travel shall not be more than 100 feet. Travel distance shall not exceed 250 feet. This shall be consistent with the rack permit plans. All common paths of egress paths shall be provided with emergency illumination. (IBC SECTION 1001, 1014.3 #1 & 2, TABLE 1016.1) 3. Egress plan is not to scale "NTS ". Provide egress plans that are to scale. Dimension all egress paths. Coordinate egress plan with the rack permit plan. Should there be questions concerning the above requirements, contact the Building Division at 206 -431- 3670. No further comments at this time.
