3: Approved plans shall be maintained at the construction site and shall be readily available to the Electrical Inspector.
4: All electrical work shall be in accordance with NFPA 70 - NEC, and requirements for electrical installations, Chapter
296 -46B WAC.
5: When any portion of the electrical installation is to be hidden from view by permanent placement of parts of the
building, such equipment shall not be concealed until it has been inspected and approved by the Electrical Inspector.
6: The issuance of an electrical work permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation
of the provisions of the electrical code or other ordinances of the jurisdiction. Permits or related documentation that
presumes to grant this authority are therefore not valid.
7: Any change in the scope of work described by the electrical work permit shall require additional work permits. Where
approved plans have been issued, revisions to the plans and additional review may be required.

SYSTEM OVERHEAD DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM STARTS AT THE LOAD -SIDE OF THE UTILITY MASTER (PRIMARY) METER AND TERMINATES AT THE 600V SECONDARY TERMINAL BUS IN THE CUSTOMER
OWNED TRANSFORMERS WHERE NORTH SKY'S ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENDS.
SPECIFICALLY, INSTALL A NEW OUTDOOR TYPE 15KV RATED / 200 AMP 3 -PHASE OVERHEAD MASTER (PRIMARY)METERING PACKAGE AND A NEW 15KV RATED / 600 AMP GROUND OPERATED AIR -BREAK
DISCONNECT SWITCH WHICH WILL BE GANG- OPERATED (THREE POLE - SINGLE THROW). THE NEW OVERHEAD PRIMARY METER IS TO BE OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE LOCAL UTILITY COMPANY,
PUGET SOUND ENERGY. THE NEW 600 AMP DISCONNECT SWITCH IS TO BE OWNED, OPERATED AND MAINTAINED BY "SEGALE PROPERTIES"
THE PROJECT ALSO CONSISTS OF INSTALLING 16 NEW FULLY PRESSURE TREATED WOOD POLES AND RESPECTIVE GUYING, ANCHORING AND GROUNDING. IT INCLUDES APPROX. 3,410 LINEAR FEET OF
NEW #2 ACSR (ALUMINUM CONDUCTOR STEEL REINFORCED) PRIMARY OVERHEAD CONDUCTOR, AND #2 ACSR PRIMARY GROUND IN THE HORIZONTAL (PRIMARY) POSITION.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
PRE - CONSTRUCTION:
• AN ON -SITE PRE CONSTRUCTION MEETING IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION. THE PROJECT ENGINEER WILL BE SCHEDULED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING TO
PROVIDE INPUT AND CLARIFICATION.

• SYSTEM GROUNDING REQUIREMENTS, PER STATE AND FEDERAL CODES SHALL BE USED.
• PERSONAL PROTECTIVE GROUNDING REQUIREMENTS, PER STATE AND FEDERAL CODES

WORKING DRAWINGS:
• LOCATIONS OF EXISTING FEATURES AND FACILITIES ARE BASED ON DRAWINGS PROVIDED BY
THE OWNER. FIELD VERIFICATION SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE STARTING PROJECT.
• MAINTAIN ON SITE, IN GOOD CONDITION, A COMPLETE FILE OF CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
• THESE DRAWINGS SHALL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES TO THE OWNER'S SITE

MULTI - GROUNDED 600V INSULATED COVERED (THHW) GROUND CONDUCTOR.
EXCAVATION, FRAMING & INSTALLATION OF WOOD POLES:
• POLE EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN A SAFE CONDITION AT ALL TIMES TO PROTECT
THE WORKERS.
• OPEN EXCAVATIONS LEFT OPEN OVERNIGHT OR NON WORKING DAYS SHALL BE COVERED OR
SECURED BY MEANS ACCEPTABLE TO THE OWNER.
• EXCAVATION IN EARTH SHALL HAVE CLEAN LEVEL SURFACES OF UNDISTURBED MATERIAL
WITH ADEQUATE BEARING CAPACITY.
• POLES ARE TO BE INSTALLED OR RELOCATED AS STAKED. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL
POLE LOCATION MEASUREMENTS ARE FROM THE CENTER OF THE POLE.
• NEW POLES SET SHALL BE THE CLASS INDICATED ON THE SKETCH, OR BETTER.
• POLES AND ANCHORS WILL BE STAKED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
• ALL POLE TO BE SET AT 10% +2' UNLESS OTHER WISE INDICATED.
• IF SOIL IS UNSUITABLE FOR BACK -FILL AROUND POLES, USE 5/8" CRUSHED ROCK.
• TREAT HOLES DRILLED IN THE FIELD WITH COPPER NAPHTHENATE.
• IF POSSIBLE, ORDER POLES PREDRILLED AND FULLY TREATED FROM THE MANUFACTURE.
• FRAME POLES PER LOCAL UTILITY STANDARDS FOR EASE OF REPLACEMENT IN THE CASE OF
EMERGENCY. SEE FRAMING DETAILS.
• APPLY GRIT INHIBITOR ON ALL STIRRUP, AND DEAD -END CONNECTIONS.
• ALL GROUND CONDUCTOR CONNECTIONS TO BE MADE WITH SOLID COMPRESSION
CONNECTORS. CONNECT ALL POLE GROUNDS TO COMMON NEUTRAL.
• ALL PRIMARY AND SYSTEM GROUND CONDUCTORS SHALL BE PULLED IN USING THE
APPROPRIATE RULING SPAN AND SAG TABLES PROVIDED ON THE DESIGN.
• ALL CONNECTIONS TO THE SYSTEM GROUND CONDUCTOR WIRE WILL BE COMPRESSION TYPE
PRESSED CONNECTIONS FOR EFFECTIVE BONDING
GUYING:
• DEAD ENDING THE PRIMARY AND GROUND CONDUCTORS REQUIRES MULTIPLE 3/8" GUYS WITH
A MINIMUM LEAD OF 20', UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
• ANCHORS TO BE TRIPLE -HELIX SCREW IN TYPE WITH A 1 1/2" ROD EXTENSIONS .
• YELLOW PLASTIC GUY GUARDS TO BE ON ALL DOWN GUYS. (FROM GROUND LEVEL UP TO 8'
ABOVE GRADE)
EQUIPMENT, VAULTS, ETC.:
• EQUIPMENT, EQUIPMENT PADS, SPLICE VAULTS, PEDESTALS, ETC. SHALL BE INSTALLED
PLUMB AND TRUE, AND SHALL BE SQUARE WITH THE ADJACENT STREETS, SIDEWALKS,
PROPERTY LINES, ETC. THE LOCATION OF SIMILAR ITEMS SHALL BE CONSISTENT.
• EQUIPMENT, EQUIPMENT PADS, SPLICE VAULTS, PEDESTALS, ETC, BEDDING MATERIAL SHALL
CONSIST OF A MINIMUM OF 3 TO 6 INCHES. USE 5/8" MINUS CRUSHED ROCK. BACKFILL SHALL
BE GOOD COMPATIBLE MATERIAL WITHOUT LARGE ROCKS, CHUNKS OR STICKS. BACKFILL
SHALL BE PROGRESSIVELY COMPACTED FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP SURFACE, AND
SHALL BE WITHOUT VOIDS.
• CONDUIT AND CABLE ENTRANCES, ETC. SHALL BE SUITABLY SEALED AND /OR GROUTED TO
MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONDUIT SYSTEM.
• ALL VAULTS SHALL BE PRECAST CONCRETE, WITH ONE -PIECE COVER, LOCKING GALVANIZED
STEEL ENTRANCE HATCH, KNOCKOUTS, DRAINS, EMBEDDED CHANNELS, ETC.
• MEDIUM VOLTAGE CABLE TERMINAL BLOCKS (JUNCTION BOXES) SHALL BE 15 kV, 4 POINT LOAD
BREAK CONNECTORS FOR USE WITH ELBOW TYPE HOT -STICK OPERABLE DEVICES WITH TEST
POINTS (SEE HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE SECTION FOR TYPE), WALL MOUNTED WITH MOUNTING
BRACKETS, 2 GROUND LUGS AND A MINIMUM OF 2 PARKING STANDS. MOUNTING HARDWARE,
ETC. SHALL BE STAINLESS STEEL. ELASTIMOLD 163J4R -7 STAINLESS STEEL, OR APPROVED

• TRANSFORMER PADS SHALL BE PRE -CAST CONCRETE, MINIMUM 6" THICK, SIZE AS REQUIRED
WITH CABLE ENTRANCE OPENING(S) TO MATCH EQUIPMENT.
CONDUITS:
• CONDUITS SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 PVC OR BETTER, FLAME RETARDANT, SUITABLE FOR USE
WITH 90 °C CABLE, SHALL NOT DISTORT FROM HEAT IT WILL NORMALLY ENCOUNTER AND
SHALL BE RESISTANT TO LOW TEMPERATURE AND SUNLIGHT EFFECTS, IMPACT AND
CRUSHING. FITTINGS, COUPLINGS, ETC. SHALL BE OF THE SAME MANUFACTURER AS THE
CONDUIT. ELECTRICAL POWER CONDUITS TO BE ELECTRICAL GRAY IN COLOR.
• CONDUITS SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH A MINIMUM 36" COVER TO FINAL GRADE UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED IN PLANS.
• JOINTS IN THE UNDERGROUND PVC CONDUIT SYSTEM SHALL BE SOLVENT WELDED TO
PREVENT THE ENTRANCE OF MOISTURE. PRIOR TO APPLYING SOLVENT, CONDUITS ENDS AND
CONNECTORS SHALL BE PREPPED WITH PURPLE ETCHING PRIMER.
• POWER CONDUIT ELBOWS AND BENDS SHALL BE MINIMUM 36 INCH RADIUS WHEN CONTAINING
15 kV CABLES AND MINIMUM 24" RADIUS WHEN CONTAINING 600 VOLT CABLES.
• ALL CONDUIT ENTRIES INTO VAULTS TO BE MORTAR GROUTED AND SMOOTHLY FINISHED.
CONDUITS TO ENTER AT A PERPENDICULAR (90) ANGLE TO VAULT FACE.
• ALL CONDUITS IN TRENCH TO BE INSPECTED PRIOR TO BACKFILL FOR CORRECT DEPTH,
SEPARATION SAND - BEDDING AND COVER.
PRIMARY POWER CABLES:

130 °C FOR EMERGENCY OVERLOAD CONDITIONS AND 250 °C FOR SHORT CIRCUIT CONDITIONS.
• PRIMARY POWER CABLES SHALL BE FACTORY TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
REQUIREMENTS OF ICEA AND AEIC, AND INCLUDE WITH EACH SHIPMENT OF CABLE A
CERTIFIED TEST REPORT IN DUPLICATE TOGETHER WITH A STATEMENT THAT THE CABLE
MEETS ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SPECIFICATION AND INDUSTRY STANDARDS.
• PRIMARY POWER CABLE TERMINATIONS AT TRANSFORMERS, SPLICE VAULTS, ETC. SHALL BE
MADE WITH DEAD -END SUBMERSIBLE, HOT -STICK OPERABLE 200 AMP, 8.3/14.4kV LOAD BREAK
ELBOW TYPE TERMINATORS WITH TEST POINTS. TERMINATORS SHALL BE MOLDED OF EPDM
RUBBER ENCLOSED IN A MOLDED SEMI - CONDUCTIVE JACKET THAT IS GROUNDED DURING
OPERATION, AND PROVIDED WITH A STAINLESS STEEL REINFORCED PULLING EYE.
ELASTIMOLD TYPE 166LR, OR APPROVED EQUAL; COMPLETE WITH ALL NECESSARY
COMPONENTS AND /OR ACCESSORIES TO MAKE UP A COMPLETE AND OPERATIONAL SYSTEM.
• CABLE PULLING LUBRICANTS SHALL BE OF THE BEST QUALITY AND SHALL HAVE NO DAMAGING
EFFECT ON THE INSULATION AND CABLE JACKET.
• INSTALLATION OF ALL NEW MEDIUM VOLTAGE CABLE SHALL BE MEASURED AND RECORDED
WITH A CALIBRATED TENSION DEVICE AND SHALL NOT EXCEED THE MANUFACTURER'S
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE PULLING TENSION, SIDEWALL PRESSURE AND BENDING RADIUS. THE
RECORDED TENSIONS CAN BE DIGITAL AND OR MANUAL.
GROUNDING:
• GROUND RODS TO BE 3/4 INCH DIAMETER BY 8 FEET LONG COPPER -CLAD STEEL.
• THE MULTI- GROUNDED NEUTRAL CONDUCTOR SHALL BE 600V RATED CABLE, COPPER, CLASS
B STRANDED (COMPACTED), WITH POLYETHYLENE COMPOUND OUTER JACKET (THHW) IN THE
SAME CONDUIT AS THE PRIMARY CABLES. BLACK INSULATION WITH GREEN PHASE TAPE ON
EXPOSED SECTION AT EACH END.
• BEFORE GROUNDING CONNECTIONS ARE MADE, CONTACT SURFACES SHALL BE THOROUGHLY
CLEANED. CONNECTIONS SHALL BE BOTH MECHANICALLY AND ELECTRICALLY SECURE.
• INSTALL A GROUND MAT IN THE VICINITY OF ALL 600 AMP GANG OPERATED SWITCH HANDLES
AND BOND TO GROUND LOOP.
• GROUND RODS SHALL BE DRIVEN AT OPPOSITE CORNERS AT EACH VAULT AND VISIBLE FOR
INSPECTION. THE SEPARATION DISTANCE BETWEEN GROUND RODS TO BE A MINIMUM 6 FEET
• CONNECTIONS AT GROUND RODS SHALL BE INSTALLED PER MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS WITH
A #2 CU BARE GROUND WIRE ENTERING EACH VAULT AND BONDED TO THE GROUND LOOP

TESTING:
