EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.0 BASIS 1.1 This report contains the results of analysis performed on the electrical distribution system at Savvis Communication SE -2, Seattle, WA. All studies were performed using SKM Power Tools for Windows, version 6.5.2.4. 1.2 Data used in performing the various analyses was obtained from existing construction drawings, construction shop drawings and information obtained during the KTA site survey. 1.3 Electrical system changes within the facility or the utility can have significant impacts on the results of these studies. It is the owner's responsibility to have these studies updated if any changes occur in the system the electrical system or with the utility. This report contains information that is accurate only with the system in its current state. 1.4 This study includes utility interface equipment and works downstream to include 480 volt switchboards and panels and the primary and secondary of the PMM or PDU units. Non critical 208 volt and small branch circuit utilization equipment was not included in the results of this report. 2.0 OBJECTIVES 2.1 General The primary purpose of this study was to develop proper Arc Flash Hazard labels for the critical distribution equipment within the facility. To accomplish this, a short circuit analysis and a coordination analysis had to be performed for the systems. The results of these two studies are included in this report. Any concerns or recommendations from the short circuit analysis or the coordination analysis are included in the Results and Recommendations section below. 2.2 Short Circuit study The objective of the short circuit analysis was to develop available fault current at each switchboard and panel board in the system. This information is used to determine the AIC (Amps Interrupting Rating) of the electrical distribution equipment. This information is also used in calculating the Arc Flash Hazard for the equipment in the system. This study is being performed on equipment that exists, 0©® SA v vi S_ ICTI� in- place; therefore the results were used primarily to aid in the calculation of the Arc Flash Hazard. If any equipment of devices were identified during the analysis that does not adequate AIC rating, the equipment or devices are identified in the Recommendations section below. 2.3 Coordination Study The objective of the coordination study was to verify coordinated settings for the existing system and to aid in the calculation of the Arc Flash Hazard for the equipment and devises. Existing protective device trip settings were input into the system and trip curves were developed to verify proper coordination with in the system. If recommendations to change existing trip settings are given, then efforts were made to provide the best coordination possible with the existing devices protective devices. It should be understood that selective coordination between two instantaneous trip units cannot always be achieved for fault levels above the instantaneous pickup of the upstream device. There are some overlapping curves that cannot be avoided. In developing the recommended changes, consideration was given to both isolation of faults and protection of cables and transformers. 2.4 Arc Flash Hazard Study The objective of the Arc Flash Hazard analysis was to provide Arc Flash labels for critical equipment in accordance with the requirement of NFPA 70E. The labels include incident energy available, Arc Flash hazard boundary, Arc Flash Hazard category and PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment) required. Both available fault current and trip settings of the protective devices affect the Arc Flash Hazard. If any changes are made that affect the fault current and /or the trip settings of the protective devices, the Arc Flash Hazard analysis and the labels must be re- evaluated. 3.0 RECOMMENDATIONS: 3.1 No recommended changes. IOTA B. SHORT CIRCUIT STUDY 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 1.2 This short circuit analysis was made to calculate the maximum available three phase, RMS symmetrical short circuit amperes at each piece of equipment in the system. The calculation procedures are based on the recommendations of ANSI /IEEE standards C37.13, C37.010 and C37.5. The data used in the calculations are as follows: 1.2.1 Actual available fault current at the Utility supply point. 1.2.2 Estimated cable lengths based on floor plan layout and estimated cable routing paths 1.2.3 Actual transformer impedance values listed on the name plates of the equipment. 1.2.4 Motor contribution based on estimated horsepower ratings of the motors over 5 horse power. 1.2.5 Default system data based on KW rating for generator reactance 2.0 SHORT CIRCUIT ANALYSIS 2.1 After making the calculations, the existing equipment ratings were reviewed for adequacy. Based on the information available for the existing ratings, all equipment appears to have adequate AIC ratings. 2.2 The complete system report is included which gives the equipment name and maximum available fault currents. 3.0 EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE FAULT CURRENT REPORT - SEE EXHIBIT "A" " s� 7 SAV V.1 S.. COORDINATION STUDY 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 The coordination analysis of the existing protective device trip settings was made to identify areas where selective coordination between the devices had not been achieved or where settings have been changed from original installation. 1.2 The existing trip unit model and trip settings for each protective device were obtained from field observation of the device and /or verified shop drawings for the installation. 1.3 The trip settings for the protective devices are an important part of the Arc Flash Hazard Analysis. It is very important that if any trip settings are changed in the future that the Arc Flash Hazard Analysis be revised at that time. 2.0 COORDINATION ANALYSIS 2.1 Both system reliability and protection of cables and transformers were taken into account while performing the review of the existing coordination. 2.2 When reviewing existing trip settings and developing new recommended trip settings, consideration was given to both isolation of faults and protection of cables and transformers. 2.3 The complete existing trip setting report for each protective device is included which gives the device name, manufacturer, trip unit model number, and settings. If new settings are being recommended by this analysis, then those settings are identified at the end of the report. 3.0 PROTECTIVE DEVICE TRIP SETTING REPORT — SEE EXHIBIT "B" Q SAV V/S.. I«I D. ARC FLASH HAZARD STUDY 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Arc Flash Hazard analysis is the primary purpose of this entire study. The available fault current and the protective device trip settings are necessary to calculate the Arc Flash hazard. 1.2 The available fault current and trip settings for the protective devices are an important part of the arc flash hazard calculations. It is very important that if any changes are made to the electrical system that affect the available fault current, either more or less, and the trip settings of the protective devices in the future that the Arc Flash Hazard Analysis be revised at that time. 2.0 ARC FLASH HAZARD ANALYSIS 2.1 The Arc Flash Hazard at each piece of equipment was calculated by the SKM software using the available fault current and the protective device trip setting. The SKM software utilized NFPA 70E standard to perform the arc flash hazard calculations and determine the hazard category, incident energy level, the flash boundary and the required PPE. 2.2 The summary report lists each piece of equipment, the data used by the system to calculate the arc flash hazard and the arc flash hazard label requirements. 2.3 A copy of each label is included for reference and to develop duplicate labels in the future if necessary. 3.0 ARC FLASH HAZARD SUMMARY REPORT — SEE EXHIBIT "C" 4.0 ARC FLASH HAZARD LABELS (COPIES) — SEE EXHIBIT "D" E.
