Newton Tukeila, Washington, Jan. 12, 1928 The regular monthly meeting of the council of the Town of Tukwila was called to otder by the Mayor on the above date at 8:05 p.m. Present were Mayor John R. Walkup and Councilmen E. F. Greene, M. L. Holmes, Phillip Koenig, J. A. Duff and J. A. Cumming. The minutes of the last and special meetings were read by the Clerk and approved as read. BILLS: The following bills were read by the Clerk and after being ap— proved by the finance committee, it was regularly moved, seconded and carried that they be paid and warrants issued for their respective amounts: CURRENT EXPENSE FUND Tukwila Seattle n Tukwila $6.11 41.65 13.00 6.72 10.00 $77.48 COMMUNICATIONS: A letter from Wright Freud, Allen and Hilen acknowledging our resolution employing them in the matter of the 1928 Budget was read by the clerk. It was referred to the water committee. The regular report of the Town Treasurer was read by the Clerk and ordered placed on filr. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Councilman Duff, chairman of the street.and alley committee, reported the streets in poor condition due to snows and to freezing Councilman Greene, chairman of the water committee, reported that there were no new develooments in the water situation to report. OLD BUSINESSL The Clerk presented the list of the delinquent local assess— ments requested by the council. After some discussion the matter was referred to the finance committee for further investigation. The clerk was instructed to acknowledge the letter of Mrs. M. M. Hull. It was moved, seconded and carried that the resignation of Mr. E. F. Doty be accepted to take effect as soon as his successor qualified for office. Nominations for the office of treasurer were then opened and H. E. Ives was nominated for the position. It was moved, seconded and carried that the nomination be closed. Ballot was then taken result— ing in the unanimous election of Mr. Ives. The matter of street lighting service was discussed and a number of lights were again reported out. The clerk requested that the matter of ammnding ordinance No. 109 be referred to the legal committee. NEW BUSINESS: A general discussion was held as to installing another light on the highway north of Main Street. It was moved, seconded and carried that it be referred to Councilman Greene to take un with the Automobile Club in an endeavor to secure a danger signal at that point. The matter of securing crushed rock from the county crusher was discussed and referred to the Superintendent of Streets to get in touch with the proper authorities. The clerk, D. D. Newton, tendered his resigna to take effe ect at once. It was moved, seconded and carried that same be accepted. Councilman Duff was appointed by the May r as clerk pro tem. The council gave a rising vote to Mr. Newton for his services as clerk. The matter of registration for this ensuing period was dis- cussed. It was moved, seconded and carried that notices be sent to all voters calling their attention to the cenceeity of again registring in order to vote at the coming elections. The Mayor again brought to the attention of the council the ,matter of purchasing delinquent local assessment property that is also delinquent in taxes and taken over by the county. No action taken. The matter of defective and dangerous sidegalks was brought up and discussed. No action taken. No further business apperaing it was moved, seconded that the council adjourn. Carried.
