These documents shall be maintained and made available until final inspection approval is granted. 4: Insulating materials, where exposed as installed in buildings of any type of construction, shall have a flame spread index of not more than 25 and a smoke development index of not more than 450. Where facings are installed in concealed spaces in buildings of Type III, IV, or V construction, the flame spread and smoke - developed limitations do not apply to facings, that are installed behind and in substantial contact with the unexposed surface of the ceiling, wall or floor finish. 5: All construction shall be done in conformance with the approved plans and the requirements of the International Building Code or International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, Washington State Energy Code. 6: All plumbing and gas piping work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Building Department (206- 431 - 3670). 7: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Building Department (206- 431- 3670). 8: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data. 9: ** *FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * ** 10: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the following concerns: 11: H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto - shutdown devices. These devices shall be separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2051) 12: H.V.A.C. systems supplying air in excess of 2,000 cubic feet per minute to enclosed spaces within buildings shall be equipped with an automatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall be accomplished by interrupting the power source of the air- moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main return-air duct served by such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. (IMC 606.1, 606.2.1) 13: Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #2051) 14: Duct smoke detectors shall be capable of being reset from a single point near the alarm panel. (City Ordinance #2051) 15: Duct detectors shall send a supervisory signal only upon activation. (City Ordinance #2051) 16: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. The first item was a new penetration for duct drops through the second floor of the building. The location was as shown on the second page of this letter, over the footprint of an older floor opening which had since been filled in with a 5" thick cast -in -place slab. From the exposed reinforcing, we've determined that the slab was intended to span from beam -to -beam in the north -south direction (i.e., a one way slab design in the north -south direction). The new floor penetration does not interrupt the span, and the existing steel beam supports are less stressed than they were prior to the saw cut, since a significant proportion of slab mass has been removed. We did not see any cracking, spalling, or deflection indicative of the slab being overloaded, and it is our professional opinion that the current condition is acceptable. The second item was regarding seismic bracing for the ductwork. As long as the ductwork meets the requirements of ASCE 7 -05 Section 13.6.7 for seismic supports, we have no issue with the current layout. Should you need anything else from us, please let us know.
