SARA 313: Toluene (CAS108- 88-3), Acetone (CAS67 -64-1) Supplemental Health Info.: While there is no evidence that industrially acceptable levels of toluene vapors (e.g., the TLV) have produced cardiac effects in humans, animal studies have shown that inhalation of high levels of toluene produced cardiac sensitization Such sensitization may cause fatal changes in heart rhythms. This latter effect was shown to be enhanced by hypoxia or the injection of adrenalinlike agents. Prolonged and repeated exposures to high concentrations of toluene have resulted in hearing loss in laboratory rats. While the effect of solvents on the human auditory system is uncertain, solvent abusers exposed to high doses of toluene show signs of hearing loss, and occupational exposure to toluene may interact with noise in causing hearing loss in the work environment. The effects of solvents on human hearing are uncertain. Solvent abusers and noise interaction with toluene in the work environment may cause signs of hearing Toss. Toluene is not known to be mutagenic or carcinogenic. However, the available human and experimental data are limited and insufficient to assess carcinogenic potential. Toluene is not listed as a carcinogen by MP, IARC, or OSHA. Intentional abuse of toluene vapors has been linked to damage of brain, liver, kidney and to death. Many case studies involving abuse during pregnancy clearly indicate that toluene is a developmental toxicant. Developmental toxic effects comparable to those observed in humans have been seen in lab animals but the effects were generally associated with maternal toxicity. This information could be submitted with this Mechanical permit application but we will need two complete copies of each item and two copies of proposed maximum quantities to be stored on site. 3. Page A03 notes refer to 1997 Uniform Building Code. The current codes acceptable are the 2009 IBC, 2009 IFC, 2009 1MC, 2009UPC and 2008 NEC. Please update all outdated references on this application and revise plans as necessary to comply with these codes. 4. Page A01 is being revised under the building permit to correct math errors etc. Please revise this page A01 to match. 5. The exterior overhead door that will be inside the paint booth may not have a smooth interior finish similar to the smooth interior sheet metal finish of the paint booth and as required by the International Fire Code section 1504.3.22. Aluminum is not allowed. Please advise us of the doors interior surface and if it doesn't meet this code section, please provide a fix. 6. Please provide a roof plan to show the location of the paint booth exhaust, make up air, and any other new or existing rooftop equipment. Also show rooftop access. Should there be questions concerning the above requirements, contact the Building Division at 206 -431- 3670. No further comments at this time. • City of Tukwila Jim Haggerton, Mayor Department of Community Development Jack Pace, Director February 1, 2011 Greg Rust PO Box 4043 Bellevue, WA 98009 RE: Incomplete Letter #1 Mechanical Permit Application M11 -012 New Image Creative —1210 Andover Pk E Dear Mr. Nielsen, This letter is to inform you that your permit application received at the City of Tukwila Permit Center on January 25, 2011 is determined to be incomplete.
