HomeMy WebLinkAbout1928-06-14 Regular MinutesThe regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Tukwila was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following Councilmen present: S. H. Stevens, Joseph Tonn, J. B. Heemink, J. R. Cumming and Philo-) Koenig. The minutes of the special meetings of June 4, 1928 were read by the Clerk. There being no corrections the Mayor ordered them accepted as read. The following bills were approved by the finance committee and a motion was made, seconded and carried that the bills be al- lowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts. J. A. Foreman COMMUNICATIONS: The Treasurer's monthly report was read by the Clerk and ordered placed in the files ty the Mayor. COMMITTEE' S REPORTS: Tukwila, June 14, 1928 Current Expense Fund 10.00 r 6. 2 113.75: 41.65 1.25 6.00 5.00 X183.90 Chairman of the street and side -walk committee recommended that the sidewalks be repaired where they are in dangerous con- dition. He also recommended that some lumber suitable for repair ing side -walks be purdhased so that it would be readily available when needed. It was moved, seconded and carried that the chairman of the streets and side -walks committee be empowered to purchase a stock of lumber for side -walk repair. The question of the Town's elevated side -walks came up and a motion was made, seconded and carried that the streets, and side wakks committee examine both structures and report their condition to the next regular meeting of the Council. The chairman of the water committee reported that the Bngin- eer, the Mayor, the Clerk, 'fir. Tonn, and himself had. attended a meeting of the Utilities crmittee of the Seattle Council where the question of lending aid to the Town of Tukwila had been discussed. He said that they had asked for a transcript of our revenue bonds and had promised that the matter would be heard on its merits be- fore the Council of the City of Seattle in three weeks. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: An ordinance pertaining to the printing, denomination, date, and delivery of $14,000 general bonds came up for discussion. The Mayor ordered it placed on its first feading...Jhen it had been read in full, the Mayor ordered it read a second time by title. On a motion, regularly made and seconded it was read a third time by title only. On a vote for passage the Council voted three to one against its passage as follows: Approved: Councilman Cumming yes Councilman Heemink no Koenig Tonn Stevens On the Clerk's report that it was necessary to have some printing done, including vouchers, warrants, bills, etc. a motion was made, seconded and carried that the Clerk be empowered to get such printing done as was necessary. After a discussion of the case, Batchelder vs. Tukwila, a motion was made, seconded and carried that the matter be referred to the committee of laws and ordinances to ascertain what was being done, and to employ a new attorney if necessary and to ask Mr. H &len to withdraw from the case.
