Project # 11.0406 Gravity Load Engineering 11.10.11 Letter # 11.0406A REVIEWED FOR CODE COMPLIANCE APPROVE DEC 12 2011 To Whom It May Concern: City of Tukwila BUILDING DIVISION At the request of the builder I have visit- • e- bYlitding- af`9351n ustry Drive in Tukwila to review the structure for the addition of a 1275 pound condensing unit for Seattle Favorite Cookies. The site review was 11/9/2011. The 72 "x41 "x37" condensing unit weighing approximately 12751bs and sits atop a 3- 1/2"x3-1/4" steel column which supports a 5 -1/8 "x21" GLB beam. The centroid of mass from the Condensing unit is in line with the axis of the steel column. The critical member is the existing 3- 1/2 "x3- 1/2 "x1 /4 "x 12' tall column. The tributary roof area supported by the column is 12'x75/2' = 450 square foot. This is equivalent to 20,250 pound at full snow loading of 30 psf. The steel column is 49% loaded in design with 20,250 pounds. The column can accept the additional 1275 pounds of the condenser. The steel column adequately supports the condensing unit in gravity design. This is a typical installation for this structure. See attached builder provided sketch of the area in question, applicable original drawings, and steel column calculation. Please co t -c Wit any questions regarding this project. REVIEWED FOR CODE COMPLIANCE APPROVED DEC 12 2011 City of Tukwila RE: 935 Industry Drive BUILDING DIVISION Hodge Eng. Project # 11.0' i6 Refrigerator Room Lateral and Gravity Engineering FILE Ci+PY err,* No. 12.5.11 Letter # 11.0406B To Whom It May Concern: At the request of the builder I have provided lateral and gravity load engineering for the 29.5' by 23.5' refrigerator being constructed at Seattle Favorite in Tukwila. The refrigerator room is inside the concrete tilt -up building and is not subject to wind or snow loading. The loadings engineered for are seismic and self- weight. Gravity Load Engineering: The refrigeration room is constructed from insulated wall and ceiling panels that are supported with a main steel beam as shown in the attached manufacturer's drawing. The steel beam spans 23' -6" and supports 15 feet of tributary width of 5 psf insulated panels. The beam is 39% loaded as design loading. The steel beam is supported by steel HSS 3x3x3 -16" square posts. These posts are 20% loaded. The insulated wall panels are fully supported on the existing concrete slab. Lateral Load Engineering: I have run a lateral analysis for the seismic loading of the 5 psf insulated panels during a USGS prescribed seismic event for the site. The lateral loading for the shear wall lines was determined to be 519 pounds. Each panel is fastened to the floor panels with a 22 gauge clip which are attached to the existing concrete with (2)'/2 "x3" wedge anchors which are adequate for the design loading. Please c 12.5.11 Letter # John y questions regarding this project. RECEIVED CITY OF TUKWILA jtt; 0 b,2011 PERMIT CENTER Hodge Engineering, Inc. John E. Hodge P. E. 2615 Jahn Ave NW Ste.
