It is recommended to follow SMACNA guidelines for supply duct installation. Again, we are the equipment provider so the duct sizing is not under our scope, as long as the fan is producing the CFM we specified then there will not be any issues with the internal velocity of the unit nor the airflow across the burner. (GENERAL NOTE) PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size). (If applicable) Structural Drawings and structural calculations sheets shall be original signed wet stamped, not copied.) 1. Please provide a floor plan of the restaurant showing where the hoods are located. 2. Please provide a roof plan to show location of exhaust fans and makeup air units and any other equipment that is existing. Is the Make -up air unit replacing an old direct fired unit or is this a new source or form of make -up air? Structural design will be needed to support new rooftop equipment. Structural designs and calcs will need to be stamped by a structural engineer licensed in the State of Washington. 3. Please provide details for the new exhaust ducts and fire rated shafts or wraps, cleanouts, if required by code, materials proposed and construction specifics. 4. Will the hood penetrate the ceiling? If so, it will need to be protected same as the grease duct. See section 507.10 of the International Mechanical Code. Please show ceiling in your section view. 5. Show make -up air duct system including size of duct and location if it is new or being replaced. 6. Per section 507.15 of the I.M.C. each exhaust outlet shall serve not more than a 12 ft. section of hood. Each proposed hood will need two outlets to optimize capture of particulate matter. 7. The minimum required CFM per lineal foot of hood as noted in the IMC is based on the cooking equipment installed underneath. Please include a list of cooking equipment under each hood and classify each piece as extra heavy duty, heavy duty, medium duty or light duty. Definitions of these ratings can be found in chapter 2 of the IMC. Please note that the IMC may require 300 CFM or more per lineal foot of hood which will be in conflict with the ETL listing minimum of 228 CFM. Please show compliance with the IMC or justification for using the ETL listing requirements. Should there be questions concerning the above requirements, contact the Building Division at 206 - 431 -3670. No further comments at this time.
