Selection procedure (wish example)
I Determine cooling and heating requirements at design
conditions.
Given
Required Cooling Capacity (TC) . . .
Sensible Heat Capacity (SHC) ..... .
Condenser Entering Air Temperature .
Indoor Air Temperature . 80
Evaporator Air Quantity
External Static Pressure
Electrical Characteristics (V- Ph -Hz)

. ..2,000 cfm
06 in wg
460 -3 -60
II Select unit based on required cooling capacity.
Enter Cooling Capacities table at condenser entering air
temperature of 95 F. Read that at 67 F ewb and 2,000
cfm evaporator air, unit 50DA006 will provide a total
capacity of 61,000 Btuh and a sensible heat capacity of
43,000 Btuh.
7
Sensible heat capacity values are based on 80 F edb For
temperature other than 80 F edb, make sensible heat
correction using correction factors in notes under
Cooling Capacities table.
III Determine fan speed and power requirements at design
conditions.
Enter Fan Performance table at 2,000 cfm and 0 6
in wg. Read that fan speed is 890 rpm and the power
required is 0.85 bhp The standard motor and drive is
adequate.
If values selected are shown in italics, select a field -
supplied motor or drive from Indoor Fan Motor Data
table or Indoor Fan Drive Data table.
IV Select unit that has required electrical characteristics.
The Electrical Data table lists a 50DA006 with electrical
characteristics of 460 -3-60.

Power supply and wiring
Units are completely factory wired, and
require only one field power supply
connection A separate power supply is
required when accessory resistance
heaters are used. When the Modulating
Outdoor Air Control accessory is used, a
separate 230-1-60 line is required for the
giumpnr motor. Field-supplied, fused dis-
connect switches are required for base
unit and resistance heaters. If a single
disconnect is used for more than one
houta,, individual heaters must be fused.
Base unit operating sequence
Cooling - Power on and thermostat
assembly set at "Cool," "Auto.," and
desired temperature.
The control relay is energized when
the thermostat calls for cooling This then
energizes the indoor fan, outdoor fans,
Time Guard® circuit timer and holding
relay. After 15 myconds, the compressor
will start If the compressor should shut
down for any mmmon, the timer prevents
its restarting for 5 minutes
1 o
If unit operation is interrupted by the
Iow-pressure switch, the unit shuts down
until the low-pressure switch closes and
the timer motor completes its cycle If
either the high-pressure switch or the
compressor overloads npnn, the indoor
and outdoor fans continue to operote but
the compressor stops The compressor
remains off until high-pressure switch or
overload closes Then the compressor
restarts when the timer has recycled
Heating - When stage 1 of heating
thermostat closes, the indoor fan and
first-stage heaters energize. If additional
heat is required, stage 2 of the heating
thermostat will energize the remainder of
the heaters
Air circulation - When unit powe bon
but unit controls are set at "Off" and
"Fan," the indoor air fan operates con-
tinuoudy When controls are set at
"Cool," "Heat" and "Fan," cooling or
heating is provided automatically as re-
quired whi|o indoor fan operates
continuously.
Economizer operating sequence
Cooling season - When the thermostat is
set at "Cool" and ^Auto^ damper goes
to "Vent" position when stage 1 of
cooling thermostat closes. When stage 1 is
satisfied, the damper closes. Damper stays
in the "Vent" position if fan switch is at
"Fan." Base unit operates as described in
Base Unit Oporating Sequence
Intermediate season - Same as for cool-
ing season except that as stage 1 of
thermostat closes and the indoor fan
motor starts, the compressor and outdoor
fan motor remains off if outside air
temperature is below outdoor air ther-
mostat setting.
Heating season - When stage 1 of heating
thermostat doses and mixed air tempera-
tum is above mixed air thermostat
:ottin0. damper modulates between
and "Close" to bring mixed air
temperature up to mixed air thermostat
setting. Heaters operate as described in
operation for base unit.

Dear Permit Holder:
In reviewing our current records, the above noted permit has not received a final inspection by the City of
Tukwila Building Division. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Uniform
Plumbing Code and /or the National Electric Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the
provisions of these codes shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized
by such permit has not begun within 180 days from the issuance date of such permit, or if the building or work
authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work has begun for a period of 180
days. Your permit will expire on 06/24/2011.
Based on the above, you are hereby advised to:
1) Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206 - 431 -2451 to schedule for the next or final
inspection. Each inspection creates a new 180 day period, , provided the inspection shows progress.
-or-
2) Submit a written request for permit extension to the Permit Center at least seven (7) days before it is
due to expire. Address your extension request to the Building Official and state your reason(s) for
the need to extend your permit.
The Building Code does allow the Building Official to approve one extension of up to 180 days. If it is
determined that your extension request is granted, you will be notified by mail.
In the event you do not call for an inspection and /or receive an extension prior to 06/24/2011, your permit will
become null and void and any further work on the project will require a new permit and associated fees.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
