PRESENTATIONS II. BUSINESS AGENDA A. Intersections along 42nd Avenue South — Sight Distance Analysis Staff presented a sight distance analysis for three intersections along 42nd Avenue South: South 1401h Street, South 146th Street, and South 148th Street. The City has received multiple comments from the public expressing concerns about safety in these intersections. Per the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), a 30 mph roadway should have a left turn sight distance of 335 feet and a right turn sight distance of 290 feet. The analysis performed by the City indicates deficiencies at each of these intersections, primarily caused by vegetation or parked cars. Staff will return to Transportation Committee with specific recommendations to improve sight lines at each intersection. INFORMATION ONLY. III. SCATBd No report was given. IV. MISCELLANEOUS Chair Duffie noted that he recently received comments from a resident about speeding on South 160th Street. Staff noted that an earlier analysis revealed a lack of excessive speeding, but did also note that if radar speed signs are successful on 42nd Avenue South, they may be placed at other areas in the city. Councilmember Ekberg mentioned that he has heard concerns about improper parking at Foster Point, and perhaps a posted 2 hour limit may help.
