SUBJECT: Update on Trakit Implementation
ISSUE
Update the Committee on the status of the eTrakit online functionality.
BACKGROUND
DCD has taken a phased approach to implementation of the Trakit permit system. Permit review
staff across the DCD, PW and Fire Departments are currently using it to accept, review and
issue building, land use and public works permits.
Before going live with the external eTrakit module staff has been resolving issues with the
citywide address database and the recent purchase of Trakit's developer CRW by Sungard,
another company in the industry.
DISCUSSION
The eTrakit online application will provide the following services to the public:
• Online users can search for building, land use or public works permit status by application
number, permit or project type, address, parcel number or owner name.
• Permit applicants and contractors who have registered with the site can schedule and
cancel inspections. Registered and anonymous users can see inspections scheduled
for the day.
• Online users can search for code enforcement actions by case number, status and
subtype.
•
Comm unityResponse Module: the public can report issues online and receive email
communication about the status and what staff has been assigned to work on the issue.
Individuals can search issues by providing two pieces of information identifying them as
the person who initially reported the issue.
Online users can search by address or parcel number to obtain permit history on a
property.

DCD's target is to go live with the above functions in November. By the 2nd quarter of 2016
additional capabilities will be added that will allow the public to apply for over - the - counter
permits online. Once Sungard has completed the integration of Trakit with Bluebeam, an
electronic plan review application, the Department will move toward electronic plan submittal
and review.
