The current system has been due for replacement for a while. Originally looked at 12 vendors, then got it down to 5 and after presentations, it was down to 2 candidates. The winning proposal was from Spillman, a company which makes products for many local PDs. On 11/17 this will be presented to committee then on to the full Council. This system would allow the department to drastically reduce the amount of paper used. The new system will be able to interface with both SCORE and Valley Communications Dispatch Center. • Question about when the in -car computers get updated and checked out? Computers are adequate, but not always taken care of well. • COPS Grant for 2 additional officers to interface with the immigrant and diverse populations within Tukwila. We were awarded the grant. It needs to go through Finance and Safety and then the full Council. The grant is worth $250K over 3 years. The officers must be kept on after the 3 year grant expires for at least one additional year. The City will be putting in about $900K over this time period. This is for cars, PD equipment, uniforms, and all the equipment needed for an officer to be effective in the field. • TPD is preparing for the holiday season. Pushing out the message about shopper safety and car prowl prevention. Officers also do emphasis patrols; the first one is on black Friday. The day after Christmas is also a day where there is emphasis patrol done. • Foster found out today that the SRO is taking another position in the department. Will the school be allowed some say in the replacement? Deputy Chief Linton will discuss that with Chief Villa. • December meeting potluck? - Yes • Boards and Commissions Training • Overview https: / /youtu.be /IzTBEEEI5dc • Open Public Meetings Act https: / /youtu.be /pTnr- DvUu9M • Public Records Act https: / /youtu.be /_mTE2KNYxa4 6200 Southcenter Blvd. Tukwila, WA 98188 • Phone (206) 433 -1808 • Records Fax (206) 244 -6181 Invest.
