f October 21, 2015 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Chairperson Sean Albert called the meeting to order at 5:33pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Sean Albert, Mike Martin, Don Scanlon, Alice Russell
Staff — Dave Johnson, Robert Eaton
Approval of Minutes: Mike Martin moved to approve the minutes of the September 16, 2015 meeting. Don
Scanlon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Business Items
A. Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase 2 Update — Dave Johnson informed the Commission of progress of the
Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase 2 construction — plantings have begun, binder material for the paths has
been placed, sheet mulching is nearly done. Seeding still to occur.
B. 4Culture Grant Update — Staff provided an update on the status the City's grant application. Panel
interview occurred on October 20th, and staff are waiting results.
C. S. 128th Street Parcel Donation — Robert Eaton reviewed information regarding potential parcel donation.
Commissioners asked questions and exchanged information. The Commission supports staff's
recommendation to proceed with the process of exploring the acceptance of this donation as park
property with the intent of preserving green space in Tukwila.
D. 2016 Work Plan Development - Staff presented a 12 -month "look ahead" for items that are anticipated to
come before the commission. A number of these items will likely be forwarded on to Council Committee.
The commission reviewed the items and would like staff to schedule them into the Commission work
plan.
Other
A. Commission considered staff's request to change the meeting date to better align with the Council
Committee calendar. Commissioners agreed to check their calendars and make a decision at the
November meeting. Meeting change would be implemented beginning in 2016.
Adjournment: Don Scanlon moved to adjourn at 6:46pm. The motion was seconded by Alice Russell. The motion
passed unanimously.
