Meeting was called to order at 5:20 p.m.
OLD BUSINESS
Due to no quorum, review of the Minutes from the February 5, 2015 meeting was postponed
until the May 7 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
The Commissioners discussed locations for the May book drive. So far, the following locations
have been confirmed:
• Tukwila Community Center
• City Hall
• Thrift In Shop
• School District Admin. Office
• SeaTac Airport Admin. Bldg.
Kathy Hougardy will be checking with a few other businesses and we will finalize the list next
week so the flyer can be finished and we can start advertising the event. Joyce will provide
Commissioners with copies of the flyers that can be distributed to local businesses and other
locations.
These are the "work party" assignments for the book drive:
Contact Crew: Crystal, Kathy
Find locations, make contact and get permission, check status
Delivery Crew: Melissa, Nate
Deliver Bins
Pickup Crew: Aaron, Melissa, Nate
Pick up books, deliver to City Hall
Marketing Materials: Joyce
All: push out flyers and message

Suggestions for Giveaways
Joyce shared information (and samples) of bracelets for giveaways at summer events. Cost of the
purple /black bracelets is about .30 ea, with the words "One Tukwila" on the outside and Equity and
Diversity Commission on the inside. These would be great for the Kick Off event (end of school) in June.
The group discussed ideas for other events (Touch a Truck, etc.) and will continue this discussion at the
May meeting.
Commissioners were asked to continue thinking about other ideas for give - aways.
OTHER
Jenny McCoy provided an update on the Snack Pack Program. They recently learned that the
Southcenter Community Baptist Church (Pastor Scott) has offered space in their small building for
storage of food supplies for the Program. This building is located just off Macadam Road, and will be
dedicated on May 21.
Joyce distributed invitations to the Volunteer Ice Cream Social which is being held April 16 beginning at
5:00 p.m. at the Community Center. She also distributed a copy of a "Save the Date" Calendar which
highlights key events throughout the spring /summer months.
Nate showed the group a plaque, showing the basketball team that the Commission sponsored. Joyce
will bring the plaque to the May meeting.
REMINDER — THE JULY EQUITY AND DIVERSITY MEETING IS CANCELLED.
