If anyone has networks /groups, it would be good to help get the word out to businesses and others who could be presenters or have a table at the event. The more our youth can be exposed to people from all walks of life and careers, the better. Speakers have a lot of freedom regarding their presentations — some are "hands on ", some use powerpoint, etc. Student ambassadors are also available to act as "hosts" for speakers. The Chamber would like to be involved this year and we anticipate more participation by City staff in helping kids understand the great jobs that exist in the City organization. Joyce provided some information about a similar career fair at Showalter on April 21, targeted to families. Other: Dr. King provided some information regarding a program called Girls Who Code, which is targeted to female students who have an interest /aptitude in math and computer science. He is also taking 5 students to Microsoft to participate in their Minority Day event. He shared that a lot of companies he talks with, are looking for high school students who have some hands on experience (robotics, manufacturing) — so any exposure students can get is helpful to the students. CTE is trying to help kids understand more about the jobs that exist in our region. Meeting adjourned 6:15 p.m. NEXT MEETING —MARCH 3, 2016
