HomeMy WebLinkAboutCivilService 2016-01-04 MinutesCity of Tukwila 6200 Southcenter Boulevard 7 kwil , Washington 98188 January 4, 2016 .Itin Haggerton, Mqyor The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil Service Commission: Steve Wheeler and Bruce Paquette. Others in attendance were Police Deputy Chief Bruce Linton, Police Records Manager Leon Richardson and Kim Gilman, Civil Service Examiner. CALL TO ORDER 5:02 p.m. Vice -Chair Steve Wheeler called the meeting to order. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Vice -Chair asked if there were any corrections needed for the December 4th Commission Meeting minutes. No corrections were noted. GENERAL BUSINESS: Chairperson Rotation Per Civil Service Rules, the chair rotated to Stephen Wheeler. The vice chair rotated to Bruce Paquette. 2016 meeting schedule The Civil Service Examiner distributed the 2016 meeting schedule and reported that meetings will continue to occur on the l' Monday of the month, except for July and September due to holidays. POLICE DEPARTMENT BUSINESS Staffing Update Deputy Chief Linton reported that the Police Department is fully staffed with 77 commissioned officers, with some open pipeline positions. He noted that the newly hired Patrol Administrative Assistant position is scheduled to begin work tomorrow. Revision to Professional Standards Deputy Chief Linton introduced Leon Richardson, Police Records Manager to those in attendance. Mr. Richardson explained that the Department plans to re- allocate the existing Administrative Specialist position to work in the Special Services division. He noted that the job description remains substantially the same, with only some minor edits being made to recognize the work done on City of Tukwila 6200 Soufficenter Boulevard 9 Tukwila, Washi q ton 98188 Pin Ha &erton, Mayor public records requests, and the removal of references to the Chronic Nuisance Ordinance.
