HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-05-14 - 2016 Tukwila Recycling Collection Event (9am-3pm at Foster High School)2016 Tukwila Recycling Collection Event New Location: Foster High School 4242 S 144th St, Tukwila, WA 98168 Date: May 14, 2016 9am to 3pm Only the Following Items Will be Accepted • MATTRESSES /BOX SPRINGS: Mattresses and box springs, any size. Fee: $15 per mattress and $15 per box spring (cash only). Vendor reserves the right to refuse any item it cannot recycle. No furniture or frames. No wet or soiled items. • STYROFOAM BLOCKS AND PACKING PEANUTS: White styrofoam blocks. Packing peanuts (any color). No urethane foam cushions, hot tub covers, expanded polypropylene or foam insulation. Expanded polystyrene only. Look for the #6 or EPS inside the recycling symbol. Packing peanuts: please keep in a box or bag. All materials must be clean and dry. • CARDBOARD: Please flatten. • PROPANE TANKS: Residential tanks only. $5 charge (cash only). Note - tanks do not need to be empty to recycle. • BATTERIES: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, and D cell batteries. Also accepted are rechargeable batteries and cellphone batteries. • LEAD ACID BATTERIES: Car, truck, marine, and motorcycle batteries accepted. • PORCELAIN TOILETS AND SINKS: Toilet seats, hardware, and base wax rings must be removed. $15 charge (cash only). • MOTOR OIL, FILTERS, & ANTIFREEZE: Motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, 2 -cycle oil, steering fluid, crankcase oil, kerosene, and home heating fuel. Do not mix with antifreeze, solvents, or other substances. No gasoline accepted. • HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND CLOTHING: Clothing and miscellaneous household items in good condition. Furniture and items in need of repair will not be accepted. • REFRIGERATORS /FREEZERS /AIR CONDITIONERS: $25 will be charged for each refrigerator or freezer. $33 will be charged for each house- hold air conditioner (cash only). • ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT: DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cellular phones (remove personal information), and computer peripherals such as keyboards and mice. Computer monitors and televisions will not be accepted. You can recycle these items for free at other locations - see the E -Cycle box for more information. • BULKY WOOD: Includes tree branches (minimum 6 inches in diameter), logs, clean wood, plywood, pallets, and other untreated and unpainted wood. No leaves, grass, small branches, sod, brush, painted, or stained wood. No peg board, particle or press board. Please lay a tarp under material for ease of removal. • TIRES: Bias ply, steel belted, and studded tires accepted. Limit 6 passenger tires per household (18 inches and below) free of charge. $2.00 charge for each tire on a rim. $5 charged for each large truck tire and $15 charged for each truck tire on rim (cash only). No oversized tires accepted. • APPLIANCES AND SCRAP METAL: Auto parts, appliances, microwaves, stoves, engines and gas lawnmowers (drained of oil and gasoline), barbe- cues, iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper and other ferrous and nonferrous metals. $5 will be charged for each water heater that still has insulation coating (cash only). Metals that are insulated, rubber or oil coated, previously or currently contains oil, gas, chemicals, paint, or hazardous materials will not be accepted. Light fixture ballasts and sealed drums will not be accepted. We reserve the right to refuse oversized, commercial, contaminated, excessive, or unacceptable loads. These household wastes: No paint of any kind No TV sets or computer monitors No construction /demolition debris No garbage No furniture No plastic toys, hoses, etc. No window glass These household hazardous wastes: No oil based paint No pesticides /herbicides No household chemicals No cleaning products No fluorescent lights Household hazardous wastes (but not latex paint) can be taken to any of the Seattle /King County Household Hazardous Waste facilities. Tukwila residents can use the South Seattle Household Hazardous Waste Facility — 8105 5th Avenue South, Seattle. Open 9:30 am — 4:30 pm, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (except major holidays). There is a 50 gallon limit and a gasoline limit of 30 gallons per customer per day. No containers can be over five gallons in size. Visit www. hazwastehelp.org for more information. You may drop off computers, computers monitors, laptops, and televisions at no charge at the following E -Cycle Washington locations: EWC Group (410 Andover Park E, Tukwila, WA 98188, 206 - 767 - 9950), Goodwill Southcenter Store (1174 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA 98188, 206 - 575 - 4944), RE -PC (510 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA 98188, 206 - 575 - 8737), and Value Village Tukwila (16700 Southcenter PW, Tukwila, WA 98188, 206 - 575 - 7435). Drop off locations and charges may change and quantities accepted may be limited. Please also note that computer peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and print- ers are not included in this program but will be accepted for free at the City Recycling Event. Beware, it is always a good idea to delete or remove all personal information from any item you are recycling - better safe than sorry. Rain Barrel and Compost Bin Sale Rain barrels and compost bins only sold on May 14, 2016 at Foster High School - 4242 S 144th St, Tukwila, WA 98168 Rain Barrels - $35 each. Compost Bins - $25 each. Cash only. While supplies last. No pre or post event sales. Starting at 9 am at Foster High School. For Tukwila residents only. Please bring proof To encourage the use of recycled content material and more efficient use of water, the City is offering recycled plastic rain barrels at a huge discount. In addition, start backyard composting with a compost bin to save resources and money. Composting is a natural process that turns yard waste into rich soil. Yard waste contains mostly water. Once the material decomposes, rich soil is all that's left. Thank You...
