HomeMy WebLinkAbout1931-01-02 Regular MinutesTukwila, January 2, 131 The regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Tukwila was held in the Town Hall on the above date at 8: n0 p. m. Those present were Mayor John R. Walkup and Councilmen Philip Koenig, B. E. Bake;, J. C. Wickman and E. F. Greene. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read by the Clerk and approved. The resignation of J. A. Duff as Town Clerk and Water Supt. was accepted. It was moved, seconded and carried a rising vote of thanks be given Mr. J. A. Duff. The Mayor appointed J. P. Walkup as Town Clerk and Water Supt., who was duly swornin as Town Clerk and entered upon and assumed the duties of the office. BILLS__ Current Expense Fund B. A. Foreman J. U. Hall J. A. The Chairman of the Finance Committee reported that all bills had been approved as presented. A motion that all bills be allowed as recommended by the Finance Committee and warrants drawn for their respective amcunts was made, seconded and carried. The Treasurer's monthly financial report was read by the Clerk and ordered filed. A letter from the Union Pacific System regarding the water bill was read by the Clerk and refered to the Water Supt. A letter from the State of Washington Department of Highways was read by the Clerk. A letter from the Union Pacific System, office of the Supt. stating the bill rendered regarding breakage, to the Town's Water Main was not just and would not be paid. NEW BUSINESS J. A. Duff, former clerk stated that Hartge Cadwallader, attorneys for Puget Well Drilling Co. refused to accept $300.00 as settlement. It was moved, seconded and carried that Judge Horaton, Town attorney, be instructed by the Clerk, in company with Councilman Greene, to accept counter offer of $400.00 made by Hartge Cad- wallader for full settlement of all claims <,_gainst the Town of Tukwila. The attention of the Water Supt. was called to condition of valve boxes. No other business appearing the t'ouncil by motion duly made, seconded and carried, adjourned at 9:06 p. m.
