Today (June 28, 2016) at 9:33 pm, Tukwila Fire Department was dispatched to a house
fire in the 3700 Block of S. 141st Street, in Tukwila. Initial calls to 911 reported fire in the
kitchen, spreading to the rest of the house, and possibly to an adjoining unit. It was also
reported that residents were still inside.
First arriving units found a two story townhouse style residence, with smoke showing
from the front of the house and the attic. Occupants, from the unit on fire, confirmed
that everyone was out of the structure.
Crews quickly entered the structure and extinguished the fire, and made sure no one
else was inside. One person was checked and released to himself at the scene. The fire
and smoke damage was mostly contained to the kitchen area.
Crews are working with the residence to arrange for alternate housing if they need it.
American Red Cross will assist if needed.
The original dispatch included fire units from Tukwila, Kent, Burien, South King County.
Medic One and Zone 3 Rehab Unit. The quick and professional actions of the first
arriving units prevented this from spreading and causing much more damage.
Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
