What is this project?
Safe Routes to School Project - Phase 2
for Cascade View Elementary
The primary goal of this project is to improve
pedestrian safety, particularly for students
attending Cascade View Elementary. The
City wants to ensure an opportunity for
public input on the proposed physical con-
figuration before proceeding to final design.
Where will it be located?
Along 33rd Avenue South, from
South 144th Street to South 140th Street
and
Along South 140th Street, from
Military Road South to 34th Avenue South

What does this project entail?
The design elements of the roadway and pedestrian
improvements along these corridors will include:
• Concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter along the east side
of 33rd Avenue South and the south side of South 140th
Street.
• Pedestrian curb ramps at roadway crossings.
• Curb bulb -outs and /or a traffic circle at the intersection of
South 140th Street & 33rd Avenue South
A preliminary roadway and sidewalk profile has been
developed:

How is this project being paid for?
This project is fully funded for design and construction costs
from these sources:
• City of Tukwila Surface Water and General Utility funds
• Washington State Department of Transportation Safe
Routes to School Program
What happens next?
We are currently in the process of final design in order to start
construction on Cascade View Elementary Safe Routes to
School - Phase 2 project in 2017.
