Afterschool Programming Staff updated the Committee on the status of afterschool programming in Tukwila schools for the 2016 -2017 school year. The School District is working on a new model and would like Tukwila Parks and Rec to provide recreational programming at the three elementary schools. The City's funding of $100,000 covered the previous REACH program through June. Costs for the 2016 -2017 program are unknown at this time, but there is potential that additional funding will be requested for September through December 2016. The cost of providing no -cost programmingto 50 kids at each elementary school would be about $128,000 forthe school year. Chair Quinn asked that if additional budget is requested, the District provide a clear statement on the value of partnering with the City on recreation so that the investment is clearly understandable.
