June 8, 2016 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Chairperson Mike Martin called the meeting to order at 5:32pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Mike Martin, Don Scanlon, Heidi Watters, Matt Mega
Staff — Rick Still
Citizen — None
Guest — Norah Kates
Approval of Minutes: Heidi Watters moved to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2016 meeting. Matt Mega
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Citizen Comment: No comments.
Business Items
A. Green Tukwila DRAFT 20 -Year Plan — Norah Kates, Project Manager with Forterra provided an hour
discussion on the Green Tukwila project and walked the commission through the DRAFT 20 -Year Plan.
B. Budget Update — Rick Still, Director P &R provided a Budget 101 overview covering where the money
comes from and how it is spent. He also shared the city's priorities in the budget process based upon the
Strategic Plan, continued outreach, and public input as the 2017/18 budget is developed.
C. Department Update
a. Staff provided the commission an update on the Cascadia Rising event the city participated in on
June 8th and the Parks Outreach Assistants for the Park Watch Program including the dates of the
upcoming "See You in the Park" events:
- July 13, 12:OOpm @ Bicentennial Park (businesses outreach)
- July 27, 5:30pm @ Riverton Park
- August 10, 5:30pm @ Tukwila Park (the commission will be attending this event in
place of the normal monthly meeting).

A. Park Commission Identification name badges were handed out to the commissioners
Adjournment: Matt Mega moved to adjourn at 7:OOpm. The motion was seconded by Heidi Watters. The motion
passed unanimously.
