Tukwila, WA 98168 Dear Ernie: During the past several months we have talked about the remodeling of the pro shop and bar areas and that I approved of your proposed plans. I believe during our contract negotiations and review, and several times since, that the remodeling you were proposing had to be put in writing and approved in writing by my office. I.have attached a copy of Section XI of the contract for your convenience. I want to make it clear, I have no objections to your proposed changes and in fact like them very much, but my verbal approval is not an official approval. As I have asked before, please put your request in writing,. explaining what you will do and how things will change. Under the current circumstances, this must be done as soon as possible. I will review your request with you and if approved the letter will be attached to our contract. For insurance purposes and ownership clarity this is a "must." I should also point out any verbal or written approval from my office only pertains to the contract requirements. I have no authority con- cerning building, electrical or plumbing permits which must be obtained for any such building work. You should know city buildings are not exempt from any of these codes and as the tenant doing the work you must abide by all regulations. Please proceed only with proper author- ization. VanDusen, Mayor May 23, 1983 Mr. Ernie Lueckenotte 13500 Interurban Avenue South Tukwila, WA 98168 Dear Mr. Lueckenotte: The Uniform Building Code 1982 Edition is an adopted code, for the purpose of regulating construction. Section 301 (A) of the Code states that it is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish a building or structure without first obtaining a building permit. The recent remodeling of the building located at the Golf Course Clubhouse is in violation of the provisions mentioned above. Several members of the City staff have contacted you in an effort to have you obtain a building permit to authorize the work. On May 6, 1983 an application was received, but the sketches submitted with the application are not sufficient.to indicate the scope of work, nor its location in the building. Approximately May 10, 1983, you were notified of the deficiencies and you agreed to supply a revised drawing that would depict the location and scope of work. As of this date, May 23, 1983 the additional information has not been received and therefore, the City is unable to complete the Building Permit process. The violation cannot be ignored, nor can it be allowed to continue indefinitely. As a result of the above facts and 'conclusion you are hereby informed that if the required material, necessary to continue the Building Permit procedure is not received within three (3) days of receipt of this letter, a citation will be issued per the provisions of the Uniform Building Code Section 202(A). Drawings or sketches that show a floor plan of the building and indicating where the rework is located, and a sectional view indicating type of material and method of construction, is needed. Also a legal description of the property.
