One civilian opening • TPD implementing a body camera program. New legislation provides protections from some public disclosure provisions • When in use 60% fewer citizen complaints • Less L &I claims • 5 -6 officers are part of the pilot program • Increases transparency • For a month at a time will use one vendor, then switch vendors (not officers) to assess different systems. • Cameras to be on during all citizen contacts. • Must advise all people who they contact that the encounter is being recorded. • First month's data in for SPRINT program • They have written a lot of tickets • Getting citizen "thank yous" • Goal is to target speeding and slow people down • Part of the program is also to engineer traffic calming measures by working with public works. • Focus is on the residential neighborhoods and schools • Boats and Mobile Command Post were out on the Duwamish River today looking for a homicide weapon which was dumped there Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206 - 433 -1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov Title or Addressee Date Page 2 • Yesterday was Cascadia Rising event, with all departments represented down in the Emergency Command Center (EOC) at Fire Station 51. • Boeing 100 Year Celebration July 15, 16, 17. E Marginal Way will be shut down near the Museum of Flight.
