This specially formulated perma- nent thermoplastic alloy does not have conventional plasticizers that migrate from the coating. It is resistant to ultra- violet rays and micro - organisms. The tear and puncture strength of the polyester fabric are superb, and it is impervious to most caustic chemicals, petroleum products, ani- mal fats and acids. It shows no ill effects from either extreme heat or cold. The Duro -Last Membrane is non - curing to provide excellent weldability for the entire life of the system. A patch, curb, stack or any other necessary additions or alter- ations can easily be accomplished by heat welding the new Duro -Last membrane/ accessory to the existing membrane. Heat (hot air) welding is used to bond all field seams. The welds can be made with a hand held unit or a walker welder. The hot air seaming eliminates the need for chemicals, torches and other unsafe, non - manageable seaming systems. Subject : Reroofing (barrel roof and adjacent roof to the north and south) Dear Ivar, We have prepared for your review the following proposal and price quote for performing the above referenced work. As we said in our letter dated March 1, 1995, the existing roof on the barrel is composed of a tongue and groove roof deck, covered by 1" of wood fiber insulation, covered by a smooth surfaced built -up asphalt roof membrane. The adjacent flat roofs are composed of a concrete roof deck, covered by 1" of wood fiber insulation, covered by a gravel surfaced built -up asphalt roof membrane. Some of these roofs have received spray coatings since the original application. All have only 1 thickness of built -up asphalt roof membrane existing now. Since the existing roofing is only 1 layer deep and the roof decks are, to the best of our knowledge, in sound condition, it is appropriate and in code compliance to simply roof over the existing roofing. We are proposing to reroof these roofs with .037 mil thick PVC membrane roofing manufactured by Durolast Roofing, Inc. The system we are proposing is very lightweight, very attractive (white), extremely durable, and is warranted by the manufacturer for 15 years after application. We have enclosed for your review, manufacturer's literature. The following is our proposal and price quote: • The roofs will be cleaned of loose gravel, water, and debris. These materials will be removed and disposed of in a legal manner. • All metal copings will be removed and saved for reuse. • 3" holes will be cored through the walls adjacent to the existing roof drains for installation of overflow scuppers. Class B fire rating and to buffer the new membrane from the old. • The flat roofs will be covered a 1/2" rigid insulation board to buffer the new membrane from the old. This application is in compliance to U. L. Class B fire rating. • The new substrate coverings on the roofs will be covered with .037 mil "Durolast" membrane, applied in strict compliance to manufacturer's application specifications, using manufactorer's accessories. All membrane will be mechanically fastened in compliance to Factory Mutual I -60 standards. All seams will be hot air heat welded per manufacturers standards. • All previously cored overflow holes willreceive scupper liners. • The hardware at all roof drains will be reused or replaced as necessary to provide clamping ring drains with strainers. • All previously removed sheet metal will be reinstalled. • All roofing and cleanup will be performed in a thoroughly workmanshiplike manner. • After completion, a representative of the membrane manufacturer will inspect the roof pursuant to issuing a 15 year warranty. • After completion and inspection, a 15 year warranty will be issued by Durolast Roofing, Inc. We will furnish all equipment, labor, materials, and permits to complete the previously described work for the price of $4276L99. This quote does not include sales tax.
