THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS WILL. APPLY TO. RE- -ROOF PERMITS:
1.. All re-roofing projects will be accomplished An compliance with
Appendix Chapter:-.15 of the Uniform Building Code . (UBC);.
2. Inspections:
A. New roof coverings shall not be applied without first
obtaining a pre-roofing inspection from the Building
Division and written approval from the Building Inspector.
The pre-roofing inspection shal 1 pay particular attention to
evidence oF accumulation of water. Where extensive pond i ng
of water is apparent, . an analysis of the roof structure For
compliance with Section 1506, UDC, shall be made and
corrective :measures, such as relocation of roof drains or
scuppers, reslopirig of the roof or structural changes, shall
be accomplished. An inspection covering the above listed
topics ' prepared by a qualified special inspector,. as
determined by the Building Official, may accepted in lieu
or the prey- inspection by the Building Inspector.
B. A final inspection and approval shall be obtained from the
Building Division when the re-roofing ,is complete.. As a
condition of the final inspection For roofs that require a
fire retardant roof covering under the provisions OF Table
15-A, 1994 UEiC, the roof installer shall provide the
inspector with a written statement, indicating . the following
(or something similar):
1 HAVE INSTALLED A ROOF MEMBRANE ASSEMBLY, INCLUDING" INSULATION IF
APPLICABLE, CONSISTING OF (MANUFACTURER),, SPECIFICATION #, , DATA
SHEET ENCLOSED, WHICH MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE .REQUIREMENTS FOR CLASS A
OR CLASS 13 ROOFS. THIS ROOF WAS INSTALLED AT (ADDRESS) , UNDER CITY

APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Roof deck shall be firm, dean, dry and smooth. Apply Fields F52 GlasBase
Fiberglass Type 11 Base Sheet so that the flow of water is over of parallel to, but
never against the laps. It shall be lapped 2" on sides and 6" on ends. Extend
base sheet 2" above the top of the cant strip. Nail the base sheet 9" on center
on the laps, and stagger nail two rows 18" on center, 12" distant from each
edge. ALTERNATE METHOD: Mechanically attach with approved "tape and
staple" method. Rows of tape shall be installed 12" on center. Staple spacing
shall comply with fastener manufacture's requirements.
Install an extra layer of Fields F52 GlasBase in valleys and waterways. This 36"
wide layer shall extend at least 8" up the inclines out of the valleys, set in a
uniform layer of Fields F100 PowrCoat Asphalt Coating and Adhesive at a rate
of 3.5 gallons per 100 square feet of roof area. This ply shall be laid prior to the
application of the roofing plies.
Install two plies of Fields F54 GIasPIy4 FiberglassType IV Ply Sheet in shingle
fashion, lapping 19" with a 17" exposure. Starter strips of 18" and 36" shall be
used and the second full sheet shall be laid with a maximum exposure of 16 ".
Embed the full width of the ply sheet into Fields F100 PowrCoat Asphalt
Coating and Adhesive at a rate of 3.5 gallons per 100 square feet of roof area.
The ply shall be lightly broomed as it is applied.
The ply sheet surface to receive the specified Fields roof coating shall be
uniform, clean, smooth and dry. Properly repair any fishmouths, buckles dry
laps or damage prior to the application of the mineral cap sheet.
Cut Fields F58 GlasCap Fiberglass Cap Sheet into 12' lengths, and allow to
relax. Apply F58 GlasCap sheet so that the flow of water is parallel to but never
against the Zaps. Embed F58 GlasCap sheet into a solid mopping of F100
PowrCoat applied at a uniform rate of 3.5 gallons per 100 square feet of roof
area. Set neatly into place with 2" side lap and 4" end laps. Adjacent end laps
shall be at least 3' apart. There must be complete adhesion between the F58
GlasCap sheet and the asphalt.
