MINUTES
July 13, 2016 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
Call to Order: Chairperson Mike Martin called the meeting to order at 5:32pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Mike Martin, Heidi Watters, Sean Albert
Staff — Robert Eaton, Bruce Linton, Chris Flores
Citizen — Scott Kruize
Guest — Norah Kates
Approval of Minutes: Sean Albert moved to approve the minutes of the June 8, 2016 meeting. Heidi Watters
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Citizen Comment: No comments.
Business Items
Chair Mike Martin changed the order of the agenda switching the order of the Public Safety Plan with Green
Tukwila.
A. Public Safety Plan — Deputy Police Chief Bruce Linton and Interim Fire Chief Chris Flores presented to the
commission the Public Safety Plan. They provided information, handouts, resources and answered
questions of the commission.
Green Tukwila FINAL DRAFT 20 -Year Plan — Norah Kates, Project Manager with Forterra walked the
commission through the draft plan and asked for any feedback to be provided to her by Monday, July 25th
at 8:OOam. The draft plan will be disseminated via email to the commission. There was some Q &A and the
commission was very supportive of this plan and expressed the desire to support and champion this as it
goes through the council process.
C. Park Watch Program Update — Robert Eaton provided an update on this program. The first "See You in the
Park" event of 2016 happened on July 13, 2016 at Bicentennial Park from 12:00 — 1:30pm focusing on
connecting with the local businesses. The two remaining events are July 27, 5:30pm @ Riverton Park and
August 10, 5:30pm @ Tukwila Park (the commission will be attending this event in place of the normal
monthly meeting).
Other
A. August Meeting Cancelled —Robert reminded the commission that the August Park Commission meeting
is cancelled so the commission may attend the Tukwila Park "See You in the Park" event that same night.
Adjournment: Heidi Watters moved to adjourn at 6:32pm. The motion was seconded by Sean Albert. The motion
passed unanimously.
