HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-09-23 - Event - Interurban Avenue South Ribbon CuttingMEDIA ADVISORY September 21, 2016 Contact: Rachel Bianchi, City of Tukwila 206 454 7566 office 206 396 0341 cell Rachel.Bianchi @TukwilaWa.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tukwila, WA: The City of Tukwila, joined by project funders and nearby neighbors, will formally cut the ribbon on its Interurban Avenue South project on Friday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. The $11 million project, which provided for new sidewalks, pavement and lighting, was funded through a partnership of the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board, City of Tukwila, Federal Surface Transportation Program grants and local transportation impact fees. Prior to this project's completion, pedestrians were forced to walk in the road, lighting was substandard and the road was vulnerable to being blocked by a landslide. In excess of 21,000 vehicles travel Interurban Avenue South on a daily basis.
