It was reported LO the committee that numerous persons attempt k}use the light rail LO travel LO the games. {JD those days, the volume Of fans adds t0 the volume Of normal commuters, vehicles, and pedestrian traffic that use the station. This combination causes @D overflow [f vehicles to park on residential streets around the station when the parking lots are full. At the 1O/8/10 Transportation Committee meeting, the committee had requested the police department's input and assessment Of this issue. Minimal calls concerning traffic problems during commute times or game days. Calls for service have not increased this summer, and are not higher on game days, and are consistent with prior months and years. Lots were full, streets and lots were busy, but no heavy congestion on surface streets. DEPARTMENTAPPROACHES TO THIS POINT • Traffic control — none, we don't schedule traffic control unless we receive information it is needed. (cost) • Extra Patrol- CPT team (bike officers) do weekly patrols at peak hours. • Monthly statistical analysis September 30- Husky Game 6:OOPM kickoff, 7:00 PM Mariners game, Friday commuters returning to station. Sent bike and patrol officers to patrol and do analysis and observation, and conduct traffic control if needed. Busy, lots were full, traffic control not needed. Have monitored other game days since analysis started. • On -site presence and traffic control at peak commute hours and on game days. Increased on site presence from agencies responsible for public safety at peak times, based on calls for service. Increased and continued multi agency engagement /cooperation. Clearly define city /organization /police agency responsibilities for this site. (MOU between ST, Metro and King County cities) Provide additional funding /resources for the agencies responsible to meet the above. Provide more parking lots, spaces. Continued monthly review of crime statistics and calls for service Call 911 report issues for PD response Continued extra patrol from CPT and on duty patrol, place traffic control when or if needed.
