Call to Order: Vice Chairperson Don Scanlon called the meeting to order at 5:37pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Don Scanlon, Heidi Watters, Sean Albert
Staff — Robert Eaton
Guest — Su Thieda, Mariska Kecskes, Sharon Leishman
Approval of Minutes: Sean Albert moved to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2016 meeting. Heidi Watters
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Citizen Comment: No comments.
Business Items
A. Special Presentation — EarthCorps Sound Steward Program — EarthCorps Deputy Director, Su Thieda,
provided an overview of EarthCorps and their programs. Mariska Kecskes, EarthCorps Project Manager,
provided further information on the Sound Stewards Program and EarthCorp's partnership with Tukwila
through three restoration stewardship sites within Tukwila; Tukwila Community Center, Codiga Park and
North Winds Weir. Sharon Leishman, Sound Steward, spoke on the history of the Sound Stewards
Program at North Winds Weir specifically and the great success they have had at the site since
construction in 2003. The Park Commission then entered into some Q &A with the presenters.
B. Budget Update —Robert Eaton quickly walked through the budget process and schedule the City is using
for the 2017/18 Biennium Budget. He also mentioned some of the changes that Parks & Recreation is
making to the budget related to the divisions and structure.
C. Park Watch Program Update — Robert Eaton provided a brief update on the program referencing the
upcoming event @ Duwamish Park on 9/21/16 as the next step in the park watch program. The Park
Commission was invited to attend.
D. Department Update — Due to the lateness of the time this item was excused.

Adjournment: Heidi Watters moved to adjourn at 6:34pm. The motion was seconded by Sean Albert. The motion
passed unanimously.
