What general types of soils are found on the site (for example, clay, sand, gravel, peat, muck)? If you know the classification of agricultural soils, specify them and note any prime farmland. Sandy silt and brown clay silt d. Are there surface indications or history of unstable soils in the immediate vicinity? If so, describe. No surface indications of unstable soils. Residents in area report past problems with banks sluffing. but corrected with proper drainage. e. Describe the purpose, type, and approximate quanti- ties of any filling or grading proposed. Indicate source of fill. The grading and filling will be done to provide for wider raod and improved sight distance. The fill will be either native material or imported embank- ment material from an approved borrow site. f. Could erosion occur as a result of clearing, construction, or use? If so, generally describe. Yes. because of soils clay content, the soil is prone to softening and mudding.if subjected to frequent or heavy traffic loads or construction disturbance under wetter - than - optimum moisture conditions. 9. About what percent of the site will be covered with impervious surfaces after project construction (for example, asphalt or buildings)? 65 to 80% of the 40 -foot wide right -of -wav will be covered with asphalt and concrete. 50 to 60% of right -of -wav is presently covered with asphalt and concrete. h. Signature: Date Submitted: TO BE COMPLETED BY APPLICIN E. SUPPLEMENTAL SHEET FOR ALL PROJECT AND NON PROJECT PROPOSALS The objectives and the alternative means of reaching the objectives for a proposal will be helpful in reviewing the aforegoing items of the Environmental Checklist. This information provides a general overall perspective of the proposed action in the context of the environmental infor- mation provided and the submitted plans, documents, suppor- tive information, studies, etc. 1. What are the objective(s) of the proposal? The objectives are to improve the existing public street and utility corridor in keeping with current City of Tukwila standards. The proposed improvements are limited by existing narrow right -of -way and topography. To provide curb, gutter and sidewalk, and to provide an improved roadway surface requir- ing less maintenance than present roadway. 2. What are the alternative means of accomplishing these objectives? The alternative means are to acquire addi- tional right -of -way and construct a wider roadway. This alternative would provide additional on- street parking, but would impact the private properties to a greater extent. 3. Please compare the alternative means and indicate the preferred course of action: The alternative means would reduce . lot sizes by acquisition of property. The cost of improvements are greater than proposed improvements. With a wider street, access to some properties would require major changes. The preferred course of action is proposed improvement as shown on the plans. Evaluation for Agency Use Only
