Meeting Minutes

PRESENT

CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair Seal called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.

H. BUSINESS AGENDA
A. Past Forward Northwest Cultural Services Contract Amendment No. 7
Staff is seeking Council approval of Amendment No. 7 in the amount of $10,000 for the contract with Past
Forward Northwest Cultural Services for cultural interpretation services for the Duwamish Hill Preserve.
This contract has been active since 2007, and staff is seeking Council approval since the addition of this
amendment will increase the entire contract over the $40,000 required approval threshold (with amendment,
contract will total $49,500).
Committee Chair Seal asked where the funds for this project were designated. Staff explained that the funds
are indentified in the CIP. In response to information provided by staff, Committee Member Quinn
suggested that the memo forthcoming to Council highlight that the City would not have identified several
grant opportunities without Past Forward assistance. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO
JUNE 27 COW FOR DISCUSSION.
B. Lake to Sound Trail Proiect Update
For information only, staff gave an overview and update regarding the Lake to Sound Trail which will
eventually connect Lake Washington in Renton to the shoreline of Puget Sound in Des Moines.
Spearheaded by King County, the Lake to Sound Trail, specifically, will connect Naches Avenue in Renton
to Fort Dent Park and to the Green River Trail in Tukwila. Staff extended an invitation to Committee
Members to attend a Lake to Sound Trail Open House on Thursday, June 23, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. at Starfire Sports at Fort Dent Park. A postcard for the open house was also placed in Councilmember
mailboxes. INFORMATION ONLY.
C. Code Enforcement Briefn2
As an information only item, City Code Enforcement Officers Kathy Stetson and Mary Hulvey provided an
overview and update on code enforcement activities and types of violations as set forth in Tukwila
Municipal code 8.45.040. The information presented included statistics and challenges, and highlighted
the following violations:
Building Codes
Unfit Residences'
Graffiti
Junk Vehicles
Rubbish and Debris
Residential Parking
Commercial Vehicles in Residential Zone

Staff pointed out that because of the newly implemented Rental Housing licensing program, there is only
one code enforcement actively out in the field. The other officer is currently dedicated to the Rental
Housing program. INFORMATION ONLY.
