All drawing sheets referred to in this response letter are added to the set and altered as noted. Changes, as requested, have been clouded and noted as Delta ".18". 1. Partition bracing detail #5 on sheet A6.1 seems to indicate the wall is attached to the ceiling grid. Walls shall be anchored to the roof and all floors and members that provide lateral support for the wall or that are supported by the wall. The anchorage shall provide a direct connection between the walls and the roof or floor construction. The connections shall be capable of resisting the seismic forces. The ceiling framing system must not be used to provide lateral support for walls or partitions. Show the wall detail with walls seismically braced independently from the ceiling grid system. (IBC 1613.7 ASCE 7 , section 11.7.5 & ES -AC368 5.3.4.) 2. Response: Sheet A6.1 Detail 5 calls for lateral bracing to be provided thru vertical struts attached to structure. Struts are to be attached thru ceiling grid directly to top track of wall or soffits. Detail call out has been added to Details 1, 2, and 3. Detail 1 shows steel runner channel attached to concrete slab. Soffits in details 2 and 3 are attached directly to the steel runner channels. 2. Provide details to show how the laminate panel (cooler soffit) is seismically secured at each end and at the pop; securely fastened independently of the ceiling grid system. Response: Per response to comment 1, soffit will be laterally braced with vertical struts to structure and anchored horizontally to adjacent walls with "L " angle.
