1: ** *BUILDING DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * **
2: No changes shall be made to the approved plans unless approved by the design professional in responsible charge and the
Building Official.
3: All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be at the job site and available to the inspectors prior to
start of any construction. These documents shall be maintained and made available until final inspection approval is
granted.
4: All construction shall be done in conformance with the approved plans and the requirements of the International
Building Code or International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, Washington State Energy Code.
5: All plumbing and gas piping work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila
Building Department (206- 431 - 3670).
6: All electrical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila Building
Department (206- 431 - 3670).
7: VALIDITY OF PERMIT: The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of,
any violation of any of the provisions of the building code or of any other ordinances of the City of Tukwila. Permits
presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of the code or other ordinances of the City of Tukwila
shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall not prevent the
Building Official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data.
8: ** *FIRE DEPARTMENT CONDITIONS * **
9: The attached set of building plans have been reviewed by the Fire Prevention Bureau and are acceptable with the
following concerns:
10: A Type 1 hood shall be installed at or above all commercial cooking appliances and domestic cooking appliances used for
commercial purposes that produce grease vapors. Each required commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system required
by section 610 of the International Fire Code to have a Type 1 hood shall be protected with an approved automatic
fire - extinguishing system installed in accordance with this code. (IFC 610.2, IFC 904.2.1 and IFC 904.11) Automatic
fire - extinguishing systems shall comply with UL 300 or other equivalent standards and shall be installed in accordance
with the requirements of the listing. (NFPA 96, 10.2.3)
11: All new automatic fire - extinguishing systems and all modifications to existing automatic fire - extinguishing systems
shall have fire department review and approval of drawings prior to installation or modification.
12: Type I hood systems shall be designed and installed to automatically activate the exhaust fan whenever cooking
operations occur. The activation of the exhaust fan shall occur through an interlock with the cooking appliances, by
means of heat sensors or by means of other approved methods. (IMC 507.2.1.1)
13: U.L. central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #2327)
14: A minimum 110 candela horn/strobe shall be installed above the kitchen hood suppression system manual pull station at a
height of 80 inches above the floor.
15: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The Tukwila Fire
Prevention Bureau. No work shall commence until a fire department permit has been obtained. (City Ordinance #2328) (IFC
104.2)
16: Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided within a 30 -foot (9144 mm) travel distance of commercial -type cooking
equipment. Cooking equipment involving vegetable or animal oils and fats shall be protected by a Class K rated portable
extinguisher. (IFC 904.11.5)
17: Portable fire extinguishers, not housed in cabinets, shall be installed on the hangers or brackets supplied. Hangers or
brackets shall be securely anchored to the mounting surface in accordance with the manufacturer's installation
instructions. Portable fire extinguishers having a gross weight not exceeding 40 pounds (18 kg) shall be installed so
that its top is not more than 5 feet (1524 mm) above the floor. Hand -held portable fire extinguishers having a gross
weight exceeding 40 pounds (18 kg) shall be installed so that its top is not more than 3.5 feet (1067 nun) above the

floor. The clearance between the fl d the bottom of the installed hand -held a hers shall not be less than 4
inches (102 mm). (IFC 906.7 and ff6 9)
18: Fire extinguishers shall not be obstructed or obscured from view. In rooms or areas in which visual obstruction cannot
be completely avoided, means shall be provided to indicate the locations of the extinguishers. (IFC 906.6)
19: Contact The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau to witness all required inspections and tests. (City Ordinances #2327 and
#2328)
20: Any overlooked hazardous condition and/or violation of the adopted Fire or Building Codes does not imply approval of
such condition or violation.

Wire Rope Clips
Method of Application and Use
Properly installed wire rope clips only offer approximately 80% of the breaking strength of the
steel cable to which they are applied. (Click here to view Part Number charts.)
WARNING: Wire rope clips are not to be used in a load lifting capacity
Turn back the specified amount of rope from the
thimble. Apply the first clip one base width from
the dead end of the wire rope (U -bolt over dead
end - live end rests in clip saddle). Tighten nuts
evenly to recommended torque.
When these instructions require more than two
clips- space additional clips equally between the
first two - take up rope slack - tighten all nuts
evenly on all clips to recommended torque.
Apply the next clip as near the loop as possible.
Tum on nuts firm but do not tighten.
4 NOTICE
Apply the initial load and retighten nuts to the
recommended torque. Rope will stretch and
shrink in diameter when loads are applied.
Inspect periodically and retlghten. The tightening
torque values shown are based upon the threads
being clean, dry, and free of lubrication.

assembly is for non - critical light duty use where a
small applied load is expected such as hand rails,
fencing, guard lines, etc.

stamped, not copied.)
1. Provide complete details and manufactures specifications for the new Type I hood installation.
Details shall show all roof penetrations specify all materials to include type of duct, duct insulation
and show roof mounted exhaust equipment with roof curb details. Identify all clearances with
dimensions. Since this is a new installation the note on the plan shall change to "new" rather than
existing.
2. Provide a roof plan to show the location of the mechanical equipment on the roof. Show other
mechanical equipment on the roof and specify dimensions for clearances to other air intakes if any
and other building elements on the roof that may be affected by the Type I hood exhaust. On the roof
plan show the distance to the roofs edge.
3. Show the return air for the HVAC system.
Should there be questions concerning the above requirements, contact the Building Division at 206-
431 -3670. No further comments at this time.
