Each required commercial kitchen exhaust hood and duct system required by section 610 of the International Fire Code to have a Type 1 hood shall be protected with an approved automatic fire - extinguishing system installed in accordance with this code. (IFC 610.2, IFC 904.2.1 and IFC 904.11) Automatic fire - extinguishing systems shall comply with UL 300 or other equivalent standards and shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the listing. (NFPA 96, 10.2.3) 15: All new automatic fire- extinguishing systems and all modifications to existing automatic fire - extinguishing systems shall have fire department review and approval of drawings prior to installation or modification. 16: Local U.L. central station supervision is required. The platform shall be not less than 30 inches in any dimension and shall be provided with guards. The guards shall extend not less than 42 inches above the platform, shall be constructed so as to prevent the passage of a 21 -inch diameter sphere and shall comply with the loading requirements for guards specified in the International Building Code. Access shall not require walking on roofs having a slope greater than 4/12. Provide construction details of a platform on the roof for maintaining the exhaust equipment with a ladder details for access. (2009 IMC 304.10, 304.11 & 306.5) 3. Provide dimensions for the length of each horizontal duct with total length of the exhaust duct. Specify horizontal duct provided with (2 percent slope) toward the hood or toward an approved grease reservoir or as prescribed per mechanical code. Specify cleanout spacing. (IMC 506.3.7 & 506.3.9.1) 4. This new mechanical installation shall require a building permit. The building permit shall provide details and specifications showing all roof and wall penetrations, construction of the maintenance platform on the roof. A floor plan shall identify all spaces and specifically show /identify all elements within this tenant space. Building permit shall identify buildings type of construction with a floor plan of each floor identifying the use and occupancy of each occupied space. Identify area separations as necessary per type of occupancies. A building permit review shall be required prior to approval of the mechanical permit. • 1 5. A separate plumbing gas permit shall be required for the gas appliance installation. (Gen. information only) 6. Provide specific information about the donut shop describing the method of distribution of the donuts produced.
