2: No changes shall be made to the approved plans unless approved by the design professional in responsible charge and the
Building Official.
3: All permits, inspection records, and approved plans shall be at the job site and available to the inspectors prior to
start of any construction. These documents shall be maintained and made available until final inspection approval is
granted.
4: All construction shall be done in conformance with the approved plans and the requirements of the International
Building Code or International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, Washington State Energy Code.
5: Ventilation is required for all new rooms and spaces of new or existing buildings and shall be in conformance with the
International Building Code and the Washington State Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality Code.
6: All plumbing and gas piping work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila
Building Department (206- 431 - 3670).

FIRE PROTECTION NOTES
1. ALL FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT WORK IS TO COMPLY WITH THE APPLICABLE NFPA
STANDARDS REFERENCED IN THE BUILDING CODE (OBC) AS ADMINISTERED BY THE
LOCAL REVIEW /INSPECTION /APPROVAL AUTHORITIES, THE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER'S
GUIDELINES, THE LOCAL FIRE PREVENTION AUTHORITY (FIRE MARSHALL'S OFFICE /FIRE
DEPARTMENT), AND ANY OTHER AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION, AS CONFIRMED
AND VERIFIED IN ADVANCE BY THE LICENSED FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR.
2 COORDINATE THE REMOVAL AND ADDITION OF PIPING AND SPRINKLER HEADS WITH
THE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.
3 INSTALL NEW SPRINKLER HEADS WHERE ADDITIONAL HEADS ARE NEEDED TO MAINTAIN
COVERAGE AND WHERE EXISTING HEADS ARE TO BE RELOCATED. THE REUSE OF
EXISTING SPRINKLER HEADS ARE ONLY PERMITTED WHERE EXISTING SPRINKLER HEADS
ARE TO REMAIN.
FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR. SHALL FIELD VERIFY AND SECURE ALL MEASUREMENTS
AND CONDITIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH NEW INSTALLATION AND ANY
MODIFICATIONS TO EXISTING SYSTEM.
THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY DESIGNED AND SIZED ACCORDING
TO NFPA PAMPHLET NO. 13, THE APPLICATION BUILDING CODE AND THE INSURER'S
GUIDELINES, RULES AND REGULATIONS (REQUIRED FOR APPROVAL).
ALL SPRINKLER PIPING AND FITTINGS SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40, SEAMLESS,
GALVANIZED WITH THREADED FITTINGS.
ALL EXISTING SPRINKLER HEADS TO REMAIN ARE TO BE FIELD VERIFIED BY THE FIRE
PROTECTION CONTRACTOR IN ADVANCE. COORDINATE ALL NEW SPRINKLER DROPS
FOR HEAD LOCATIONS WITH EXISTING AND NEW DUCTWORK, PIPING, AND EQUIPMENT.
FPC SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS INDICATING NEW SPRINKLER HEAD LOCATIONS, TO
THE ARCHITECT FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL.
FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRESTOPPING AT ALL FIRE
PROTECTION RELATED PENETRATIONS OF FIRE AND SMOKE RATED WALLS AND
PARTITIONS. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL FLOOR PLANS FOR LOCATIONS OF ALL RATED
STRUCTURES.
9. RUN ALL PIPING IN FINISHED AREAS CONCEALED WHEREVER POSSIBLE.
10. ALL PIPING SHOWN IS ABOVE CEILING IN AREAS WITH DROPPED CEILINGS.
11. THE FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWING ARCHITECTURAL
PROJECT DOCUMENTATION FOR ITEMS AFFECTING FIRE PROTECTION WORK, INCLUDING
SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS AND ITEMS OF A GENERAL NATURE, WHICH MAY NOT BE
REFERRED TO BY THE FIRE PROTECTION DOCUMENTATION. THIS MAY INCLUDE, BUT
IS NOT LIMITED TO, SPRINKLER REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN RATED SEPARATION
STRUCTURES (WALLS, WINDOWS, GLASS PARTITIONS /DOORS, ETC.), OR AT PROTECTION
FEATURES SUCH AS DRAFTSTOPS AND OTHER STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS. WHERE THERE
IS A DISCREPANCY IN LOCATIONS INDICATED BETWEEN THE TWO SETS OF
DOCUMENTATION, THE LOCATION INDICATED BY THE ARCHITECTURAL SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENT. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW SHALL INCLUDE COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION,
INCLUDING SPECIFICATIONS AND DRAWING ELEVATIONS.
12. FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR SHALL CAP PIPING AND CLOSE VALVES WHERE
NECESSARY AND RETURN THE LOCAL SYSTEM TO ACTIVE DUTY AT THE END OF EACH
WORK DAY.
13. A COMPLETED CONTRACTORS MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATE SHALL BE PROVIDED
UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT.
14. PROVIDE ESCUTCHEON COVER PLATES FOR ALL NEW SPRINKLER HEADS.;
15. IN AREAS WHERE CEILING GRID IS INSTALLED, FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE AND INSTALL SPRINKLER HEADS TO MATCH EXISTING HEADS IN AREA.
16. FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR SHALL AT NO TIME INSTALL HEADS IN SOFFIT.
RELOCATE OR PROVIDE NEW IN CEILING AREA ONLY
17. UNLESS DIRECTED OTHERWISE, WHERE EXISTING STRUCTURE IS BEING
REMOVED /REMODELED OR OTHERWISE REVISED, THE FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR
SHALL REVISE THE EXISTING SPRINKLER INSTALLATION AND PROVIDE NEW FIRE
PROTECTION ITEMS /ELEMENTS AS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE /MAINTAIN. THE COVERAGE
SPECIFIED HEREIN. THIS INCLUDES SPACING AND LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
(MINIMUM /MAXIMUM) BETWEEN SPRINKLER HEADS /PIPING AND RELATIVE TO WALLS,
SOFFITS, PARTITIONS AND ANY OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS TO SPRINKLER DISCHARGE. IN
AREAS WHERE EXISTING WALLS ARE REMOVED, MODIFY EXISTING AND PROVIDE NEW

GENERAL NOTES.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBSERVE ALL FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY RULES, INCLUDING THE
USE OF APPROVED AND CERTIFIED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, PLACEMENT OF FIRE
BLANKETS, THE USE OF INDEPENDENT FIRE WATCH PERSONNEL, CONTAINMENT, AND
THE PROPER NOTIFICATION OF THE OWNER REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO THE START OF.
WORK.
WHEN WORKING IN THE BUILDING THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER AND
REQUEST THAT THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM BE PUT INTO THE TEST OR BYPASS MODE. .
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM WITH THE OWNER THAT THE PROPER FIRE ALARM
MONITORING AUTHORITIES HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. PERFORM NO WORK UNTIL
VERIFICATION OF THIS PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE.
THERE WILL BE NO UNSCHEDULED SHUTDOWNS OF THE OWNERS SERVICES OR OF.
THE SERVICES EXTENDED FOR OWNERS CUSTOMERS.
ALL WORK SHALL BE SUPERVISED BY A DIRECT EMPLOYEE OF THE CONTRACTOR,
AUTHORIZED TO SUPERVISE THE WORK, IMPLEMENT THE NECESSARY PROTECTION.
MEASURES, CURTAIL UNSAFE OR IMPROPER WORK PROCEDURES, AND FULLY
INFORMED OF THE NATURE OF THE FACILITY AND THE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
REQUIRED TO PERFORM WORK IN THE BUILDING.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE WITH A COMPLETE
LIST OF EMPLOYEES WHO • WILL BE IN THE FACILITY, AND A LIST OF THE
SUBCONTRACTORS (AND THEIR EMPLOYEES) PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK. ALL
WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED BY DIRECT EMPLOYEES OF THE CONTRACTOR, OR BY
DIRECT EMPLOYEES OF THE APPROVED SUBCONTRACTOR. THE OWNER RESERVES THE
RIGHT TO PROHIBIT ANY EMPLOYEE OR SUBCONTRACTOR FROM WORKING ON SITE.
THE OWNER HAS THE 'RIGHT TO REFUSE ACCESS TO THE FACILITY IF IN HIS OPINION
THE EMPLOYEE OR SUBCONTRACTOR POSES A RISK TO THE OWNERS SERVICES.
7. THE OWNER MAINTAINS A COMPREHENSIVE CONSTRUCTION GUIDELINE MANUAL THAT
ADDRESSES ALL WORK RULES IN ON OR AROUND THE FACILITY.
ON A DAILY BASIS, PRIOR TO ENTERING THE WORK AREA, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
NOTIFY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND INDICATE THE NATURE. OF THE WORK AND
THE AREA IN WHICH THE WORK WILL BE PERFORMED.
COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION AND USAGE OF PROTECTIVE BARRIERS WITH GENERAL
CONTRACTOR.
10. COORDINATE THE REMOVAL AND RELOCATION OF HVAC . ITEMS WITH ALL CONTRACTORS.

MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE DISPOSAL OF ALL REMOVED
EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, AND DEVICES WITH OWNER.

LOCATIONS, SET AND SECURE ALL SAFETY BARRIERS AS APPROPRIATE.
13. ALL WORK TO BE REMOVED AND INSTALLED PER ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL
CODES.
14. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL PLANS. FOR EXISTING AND NEW REFLECTED CEILING PLANS
AND DETAILS.
15. ALL PERMITS AND LICENSES NECESSARY FOR THE PROPER EXECUTION OF THE WORK
SHALL BE SECURED AND PAID FOR BY THE CONTRACTOR INVOLVED.

24. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY PROJECT MANAGER AT THE COMPLETION OF
THE DEMOLITION PHASE AND PRIOR TO ANY RELOCATION OR NEW WORK PERFORMED.

CONTRACTOR AT INTERSECTION OF DUCTWORK AND NEW FULL HEIGHT WALL. PRIOR TO
ANY GENERAL CONSTRUCTION WORK. GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR.
CONSTRUCTING WALL AROUND DUCTWORK CREATING A DUCTWORK PENETRATION WHERE
NECESSARY. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FIRE CAULKING AROUND ANY
DUCTWORK. PENETRATING A FIRE RATED WALL.
