Carbon monoxide gas is a highly poisonous gas which is released when fuels are burnt. It is invisible, has no smell and is therefore impossible to detect with the human senses. Under normal conditions in a room where fuel burning appliances are well maintained and correctly ventilated, the amount of carbon monoxide released into the room by appliances should not be dangerous. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning: Carbon monoxide bonds to the hemoglobin in the blood and reduces the amount of oxygen being circulated in the body. The following symptoms are examples taken from NFPA 720. They represent approximate values for healthy adults: Also young children and pets may be the first to be affected. Per UL standard 2075, the C01224T/C01224TR has been tested to the sensi- tivity limits defined in UL standard 2034. Alarm thresholds are as follows: Parts Per Million Detector response time, min. 30 ± 3ppm No alarm within 30 days 70 ± 5ppm 60 -240 150 ± 5ppm 10 -50 400 ± lOppm 4 -15 What to do if the carbon monoxide detector goes into alarm: Immediately move to a spot where fresh air is available, preferably outdoors. Find a phone in an area where the air is safe and call your security service provider. Tell your provider the detector alarm status, and that you require professional assistance in ridding your home of the carbon monoxide. IMPORTANT: This detector should be tested and maintained regularly follow- ing National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 720 requirements. These settings are acceptable only for private mode fire alarm use. Use the high dBA setting for pub ic mode application (not applicable when using the chime tone. The chime tone is always private mode). Notes: The sound output for the temporal 3 tone is rated lower since the time the horn is off is averaged into the sound output rating. While the horn is producing a tone in the temporal 3 mode its sound pressure is the same as the continuous mode. To obtain the horn /strobe current draw, add the strobe current draw and the hom current draw. 1 The listed reverberant dBA are for the continuous tone mode. The Temporal 3 tone has a reverberant dBA @ 10ft. per UL 464 is 77 -83. with a horn current draw of 34mA. 2 RMS current ratings are per UL average RMS method. UL max current rating is the maximum RMS current within the listed voltage range (16 -33VDC for 24VDC units) (8 -17VDC for 12VDC units). For strobes the UL max current is usually at the minimum listed voltage (16VDC for 24VDC units) (8VDC for 12VDC units). For audibles the max current is usually at the maximum listed voltage. For unfiltered FWR ratings, see installation manual. Mounting Super-Slide- Die Cast Metal Mounting Plate: Mounts to single gang, double gang 4" square boxes or GSB box. Checkmate- - Instant Voltage Verification The access holes are provided in the back of the terminal block to allow the voltage to be measured directly without removing the device. Please address the following comments in an itemized format with revised plans, specifications and/or other applicable documentation. (GENERAL NOTE) PLAN SUBMITTALS: (Min. size 11x17 to maximum size of 24x36; all sheets shall be the same size). (If applicable) Structural Drawings and structural calculation sheets shall be stamped and signed. 1. The drainage system for the clothes washers can't be a combination waste and vent as it would need to be two pipe sizes larger than the required drain per chapter 7 of the UPC. A combination waste and vent may work if 6 inch pipe could be used but it would need to tie into an existing 6 inch line capable of handling the total load. Also the UPC only allows use of a combination waste and vent system when there are structural conditions that would preclude the installation of a conventional system. Please revise the plan to show a conventional plumbing system. Note that we will need to know the size and location of the main drain that the new work will tie into, the total load of new and existing fixtures and the length of pipe runs. We will also need the sizes and lengths of piping for the new venting system. Isometric line drawings and floor plans will be needed to show this information. Please include fixture count information for new and existing fixtures. 2. The water piping does not show a point of connection. The size of the pipe needed would be based on overall length of pipe back to the meter and the available main line size. Please provide an isometric line drawing, pipe segment lengths and total fixture counts. 3. The gas piping also needs an isometric line drawing showing size and lengths of pipe segments back to the meter. New and existing fixture load will be needed. I understand that the BTU rating for each fixture may vary so it would seem reasonable to pick a relative average gas input rating from table 402.2 of the IFGC. I am assuming that all appliances will be residential and typically gas clothes dryers, ranges etc. Please provide the engineers reasonable average BTU rating or provide other code approved methods of sizing the gas piping system. If commercial appliances will be involved the design will need to address the potential higher demand. Please make reference on the plans as to the type of appliances involved. 4. Gas appliances typically need exhaust venting to the exterior of the building. A mechanical permit would be required for this scope but since it could impact the overall gas piping installation, venting or alternate methods should be taken into consideration concurrently with this plumbing permit. The Mechanical Code also requires ventilation based on the use of the space. Please provide the proposed method to address venting. Please note that alternate methods need to include justification and will need approval by the Building Official. Should there be questions concerning the above information please contact the Building Division at 206- 431 -3670.
