RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL I CIIIL OF THE
CITY OF TOKIO/ILA, WASHINGTON, REAFFIRMING
ITS COMMIT ENT TO BEING A DIVERSE,
TOLERANT AND INCLUSIVE CITY,

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, REAFFIRMING
ITS COMMITMENT TO BEING A DIVERSE,
TOLERANT AND INCLUSIVE CITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is a beautifully diverse community of
neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila considers this diversity to be one of its greatest
assets and prioritizes the value of inclusiveness; and
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 1614 in 2006 reaffirming its
commitment to being an inclusive community as a fundamental value; and
WHEREAS, we, as elected representatives of the people, have a responsibility to
not stay silent in the face of violence and discrimination against any of our constituents
or compatriots; and
WHEREAS, the people of Tukwila recognize that people of all cultures, ethnicities,
abilities, and backgrounds all do better when we work together; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila promotes civility and strives for a culture where
tolerance and solidarity overcome fear and division; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila does not tolerate bias, harassment, or
discrimination based on race, religion, ancestry, national origin, immigration status,
gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, housing status or status with
regard to public assistance; and
WHEREAS, we advance the principles of non-violence, tolerance, religious
freedom, trust and safety, and recognize that these principles are valued by all
communities in our City; and
WHEREAS, all of Tukwila's residents deserve to live in a safe environment free of
hate, discrimination and fear; and

WHEREAS, we believe in the public sector for the public good, and advancing
equity and inclusion is critical to the success of our communities and our nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES ITS COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY AND
INCLUSIVENESS FOR ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO OUR CITY. WE
REJECT THE POLITICS OF DIVISION, BIGOTRY, VIOLENCE AND
DISCRIMINATION. WE WILL FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS, FREEDOMS AND
INTERESTS OF ALL THE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY NO MATTER WHAT
THE COLOR OF OUR SKIN, OUR GENDER, THE WAY WE WORSHIP, WHERE WE
WERE BORN, OUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OUR ABILITIES, OR ANY OTHER
IDENTITY. FURTHERMORE, WE RESOLVE TO:
1. Prioritize and promote a welcoming environment for all in our community, and
recognize the rights of individuals to live their lives with dignity and free of
discrimination.
2. Commit to pursuing a policy agenda that affirms civil and human rights, and
ensures that those targeted on the basis of culture, religion or immigration status can
turn to government without fear of recrimination.
3. Engage with individuals and community groups to promote education and
dialogue among all community members.

UNA RESOLUCION DEL AYUNTAMIENTO DE LA
CIUDAD DE TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, REAFIRMANDO
SU COMPROMISO DE SER UNA CIUDAD DIVERSA,
TOLERANTE E INCLUSIVA.
CONSIDERANDO QUE, la ciudad de Tukwila es una comunidad hermosamente
diversa de vecindarios, residentes, negocios y visitantes; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, la ciudad de Tukwila considera que su diversidad es uno
de sus ventajas m6s valiosos y le da prioridad al valor de la inclusi6n, y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, el ayuntamiento adopt6 la Resoluci6n N.0 1614 en 2006
que reafirma su compromiso de ser una comunidad inclusiva como valor fundamental; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, nosotros, comp representantes elegidos de la ciudad,
tenemos la responsabilidad de no permanecer callados ante la violencia y la
discriminaci6n en contra de nuestros electores y compatriotas; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, la poblaci6n de Tukwila reconoce que a las personas de
todas las culturas, etnias, capacidades y origenes les va mejor cuando trabajamos
juntos; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, la ciudad de Tukwila promueve el civismo y trata de Ilevar
la cultura a un punto en el que la solidaridad venza al miedo y la divisi6n; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, la ciudad de Tukwila no tolera el prejuicio, el acoso ni la
discriminaci6n por motivos de raza, religi6n, ascendencia, origen nacional, estado de
inmigraci6n, sexo, identidad de g6nero, orientaci6n sexual, discapacidad, edad, estado
de domicilio o estado con relaci6n a la asistencia p6blica; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, promovemos los principios de la no violencia, la
tolerancia, la libertad religiosa, la confianza y la seguridad y reconocemos que todas las
comunidades de nuestra ciudad valoran estos principios; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, todos los residentes de Tukwila merecen vivir en un
ambiente seguro libre de odio, discriminaci6n y miedo; y

CONSIDERANDO QUE, creemos en el sector publico para el bien del publico y
que promover la igualdad y la inclusion es esencial para el exito de nuestras
comunidades y de nuestra nacion;
POR LO TANTO, AHORA, EL AYUNTAMIENTO DE LA CIUDAD DE TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, POR ESTE MEDIO ESTABLECE SU COMPROMISO HACIA LA
IGUALDAD Y LA INCLUSIVIDAD PARA TODOS LOS RESIDENTES Y VISITANTES
DE NUESTRA CIUDAD. RECHAZAMOS LAS POLITICAS DE DIVISION,
FANATISMO, VIOLENCIA Y DISCRIMINACION. LUCHAREMOS POR LOS
DERECHOS, LIBERTADES E INTERESES DE TODOS LOS MIEMBROS DE
NUESTRA COMUNIDAD, INDEPENDIENTEMENTE DEL COLOR DE NUESTRA
PIEL, NUESTRO SEXO, NUESTRA MANERA DE RENDIR CULTO, NUESTRO
LUGAR DE NACIMIENTO, NUESTRA ORIENTACION SEXUAL, NUESTRAS
CAPACIDADES O CUALQUIER OTRA IDENTIDAD. ASIMISMO, DECIDIMOS:
1. Darle prioridad y promover un ambiente acogedor para todos en nuestra
comunidad y reconocemos el derecho que tienen todos los individuos de vivir sus vidas
con dignidad y libres de discriminacion.
2. Comprometernos a seguir una agenda de politicas que afirmen los derechos
civiles y humanos y aseguren que las personas victimas de un tratamiento distinto
debido a su cultura, religion o estado de inmigracion puedan acudir al gobierno sin
miedo a represalias.
3. Colaborar con los individuos y los grupos comunitarios para promover la
educacion y el dialogo entre todos los miembros de la comunidad.

WASHINGTON, en una Reunion Regular realizada este dia 5th de Diciembre de 2016.
