Council President Duffie called the meeting to order and Finance and Safety Chair Seal outlined the
purpose of the meeting, which was to review the Facilities Steering Committee's recommendation
including "Plan B," Fire Facilities and Apparatus.
Staff provided an overview of the Steering Committee's process leading to the recommendation
presented to the Council on November 23, 2015. Plan B represents the Committee's recommendation
with the addition of fire facilities and apparatus since the City Council chose to set aside the issue of
annexing into the Kent Regional Fire Authority.
Representatives from the City's Public Works Department, Police Department, Municipal Court, and
Fire Department addressed the Council regarding facilities deficiencies and impacts to employees and
service levels for each respective department.
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions which were tracked in the "2016 Facilities Plan Review
Council Comments /Questions Matrix."
Next Steps and Close
The City Council will hold a second workshop to continue this discussion.
