CALL TO ORDER Mayor Rants called the Regular Meeting to order and led the
audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CITIZEN COMMENTS Wendy Morgan, 15144 65th Ave. S., #404, commented that while
Council is addressing public safety issues with the police
department, they should also consider a review of the battalion
chiefs issue for the fire department.
Business owner Donna West, 14864 Pacific Highway South, and
Chamber of Commerce representative Kirstie Weaver gave an
update of Highway 99 Action Committee activities. Bill Arthur,
Action Committee member, presented a perpetual plaque which
will be engraved with the names of those who make a positive
contribution to the Highway 99 cleanup effort. The plaque will
hang in Council chambers. Ms. West thanked Council for their
continued support of the Highway 99 campaign.

DCD Director Steve Lancaster gave an overview of the process
suggested for Council's consideration of the Planning
Commission's recommendations for revisions to the TMC to
implement the requirements of ESHB 1724, GMA concurrency
standards, and unclassified use procedures and standards.
Attachments A, a summary of the proposed decision makers,
appeal bodies and review processes by permit "type and
Attachment B, a new Tukwila Zoning Code chapter which
incorporates the majority of 1724 amendments, were reviewed in
depth. Further discussion will follow at the June 10 COW. A
public hearing is scheduled for June 17 with adoption of the
ordinance to follow on July 1.
Mayor Rants reported Metro wants Council's feedback on
expanding (at ground level) the Interurban park and ride lot via
acquisition of other properties. Council was receptive to looking at
what Metro has to offer.
Rants asked Council how they would approach the vote on the
RTA now that light rail on Hwy 99 has been included in the plan.
Council President Carter indicated that the RTA was looking at the
route and evaluating the alternatives. They were no longer locked
into Highway 99. Council agreed that they would need more
concrete information on the route before taking a definite stand.

Rants announced that Suburban Cities is looking to reorganize in
order to create more strength with the small staff they have and
selectively choosing the regional issues to consider. He asked for
Council's recommendations on the SCA audit of which the
Council Analyst has a copy.
Councilmember Duffie extended an invitation to a "roast" of Dick
Fain, retiring principal at Tukwila Elementary School. The event
will be held Monday, June 10th.
Council President Carter acknowledged the following
correspondence received during the week: A letter from Lester
Candy, owner of a 4 -plex, in which he expressed his support and
appreciation for the Crime Free Multi housing Program. A letter
from Mary Kriedler noting her appreciation for the annual
recycling event and the help she received from students and others
who helped haul her things away.
Councilmember Linder announced that Metro and Tukwila P.D.
have arranged for a "no trespass" at bus stops in Tukwila.
City Administrator John McFarland announced that the 51 st Ave,
S. bridge will be closed for repairs beginning at 4:30 p.m. on June
14th. Following the closure on the 14th, the contractor will host a
barbecue for the community on the bridge from 4:30 p.m. 7 p.m.
