• Minutes for 10/13/16 meeting approved
• Chief's update
Facilities Bond is passing so far with just over the required 60% of the vote
• Deputy Chief Linton has overseen the bond issue for the Police
Department and has been visiting other departments with new
facilities for input.
Officer staffing level is at 77, we are down by 2 officers plus 4 authorized
pipeline employees.
• Currently
• One officer on limited duty
• One in the Academy
• One officer on FTO
• Non - officer staffing is at 18 people, 100%
• Tukwila Police Department now has Facebook and Twitter Accounts
• Twitter will be for breaking news /events
• Facebook will be for longer term - information
• City of Tukwila staff, including police, fire and zoning has a meeting with the
Cascade Behavioral Hospital on Military Road about the heavy use of police
and fire services and potential zoning /land use issues.
• November training was low -light firearms
• Bicycle Team continues to work on hot spots and issues needing proactive
enforcement
• This includes the light rail station and parking issues in the
surrounding neighborhoods.
• Tukwila Police has a new K9 team coming. Officer Sturgill and his partner,
Apollo are training in narcotics detection in order to assist the Tukwila Anti -
Crime Team and also detect narcotics in package distribution hubs such as the
US Post Office and UPS.
• Last week Chief Villa attended the IACP (International Association of Chiefs
of Police) conference in San Diego.

• Question: Will Facebook posts, such as the one for a missing juvenile be
updated. Answer: Yes.
• Updates for the TMC Authorizing COPCAB, copies handed out.
• Good of the Order
• All were in agreement to have a December potluck
• John — attended the Veteran's Day ceremony earlier in the day. He also
brought pictures of his Grandfather in the service.
• Zak — Asked what the outcome was of the break -in at the Mosque. Answer:
One was arrested the night of the burglary and the other is known to the police.
The case is in the hands of the prosecutor.
• Jerry — Saw information about COPCAB on the City website, mentioned an
article about how many police a city needs and mentioned Tukwila's high
burglary statistics. Note — part of high burglary statistics in Tukwila are the
large number of burglaries to businesses.
