HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark 2016-10-12 MinutesPARK COMMISSION MINUTES October 12, 2016 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center Call to Order: Chairperson Mike Martin called the meeting to order at 5:32pm. Attendance: Commissioners — Don Scanlon, Matt Mega, Heidi Watters, Sean Albert Staff — Robert Eaton, Jay Wittwer, Bruce Linton Approval of Minutes: Don Scanlon moved to approve the revised minutes of the September 14, 2016 meeting. Heidi Watters seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Citizen Comment: No comments. Business Items A. Public Safety Bond — Fire Chief, Jay Wittwer and Deputy Police Chief, Bruce Linton presented information regarding the Public Safety Bond and directed the commissioners to the City's website that has additional information. They also answered questions from the Commission. Budget Update — Robert Eaton provided a summary of the P &R 2017 -18 Budget and answered questions of from the Commission. Commissioners discussed the subject of Green Tukwila and a .SFTE Stewardship position as well. C. Property Donation — Robert Eaton provided a brief update on the status of the property donation process and that upon reviewing the Phase 1 Environmental Assessment Survey there are no obvious issues with the land. Sean Albert moved to approve that the Commission recommend to the Council the acquisition of the property located at 12600 Block of 37`h Avenue South, Parcel No. 7345600722, as a donation from the owner. Heidi Watters seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. D. Department Update — Robert Eaton provided a brief summary of the Park Watch event @ Duwamish Park on 9/21/16 and an update on the Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase 2b project. Other: Commissioner Don Scanlon brought up the following items for discussion; Impacts of the new Tree Ordinance on Parks, North Winds Weir and other volunteer maintained restoration sites being overgrown with trees, and the Riverton Creek Flapgate Project. Adjournment: Don Scanlon moved to adjourn at 6:55pm. The motion was seconded by Sean Albert. The motion passed unanimously.
