CALL FOR BIDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be received by the City of Tukwila, Washington
at the Office of the City Clerk, in Tukwila City Hall, 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila,
Washington 98188, up to the hour of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Bids will be
opened and publicly read aloud at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 for:
MAJOR MAINTENANCE OF 3 BRIDGES
The Work to be performed within 160 working days from the date of Notice to Proceed consists
of furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and other work or items incidental thereto for:
The project consists of work at three separate locations:
• BEACON AVENUE SOUTH PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, PROJECT NO.
9150408, FEDERAL AID NO. BHOS- 1320(004)
The work shall consist of, but not be limited to: painting of structure steel, concrete Class
4000 for bridge, repair of existing steel beams, polyester concrete overlay, structural steel,
resin bonded anchors, temporary traffic control, and other items necessary to complete
the Work as shown on the Contract Documents.
• FRANK ZEPP (S. 180th STREET) PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, PROJECT NO.
9150406, FEDERAL AID NO. BHM- 1274(009)
The work shall consist of, but not be limited to: seismic upgrades, work platform and
containment system, expansion joint system, epoxy sealing, painting, polyester concrete
overlay, temporary traffic control, and other items necessary to complete the Work as
shown on the Contract Documents.
• GRADY WAY PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, PROJECT NO. 9150407, FEDERAL
AID NO. BHM- 1288(005)
The work shall consist of, but not be limited to: seismic upgrades, installation of structural
steel, resin bonded anchors, temporary traffic control, and other items necessary to
complete the Work as shown on the Contract Documents.
Each bid shall be in accordance with the bid documents available free of charge on -line through
Builders Exchange of Washington, Inc. at http: / /www.bxwa.com. Click on: "bxwa.com ", "Posted
Projects "; Public Works "; "City of Tukwila ", and "Project Bidding ". Bidders are encouraged to
"Register as a Bidder" in order to receive automatic e -mail notification of addenda and to be placed
on the "Bidders List ". This service is provided free of charge to Prime Bidders, Subcontractors
and Vendors bidding this project. Contact Builders Exchange of Washington at (425) 258 -1303,
should you require further assistance. Informational copies of any available maps, plans,
specifications, and subsurface information are on file for inspection in the office of the Tukwila
City Engineer, at the Public Works Department.
All bid proposals shall be submitted according to the Information for Bidders and be accompanied
by a bid proposal deposit in the form of a cash deposit, certified or cashier's check, postal money
order, or surety bond made payable to the City of Tukwila, for a sum not less than five percent
(5 %) of the amount of such bid, including sales tax. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into
such contract and furnish satisfactory payment and performance bonds within the time stated in
the specifications, the bid deposit /bond shall be forfeited to the City of Tukwila.
The City of Tukwila in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42
U.S.C. 2000d to 2000d -4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of
Transportation, Subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21, Nondiscrimination in Federally -
Assisted Programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby
notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this
advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises as defined at 49 CFR Part 26 will be afforded
full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against
on the grounds of race, color, national origin, or sex in consideration for an award.
The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids or waive any informalities in the bidding and
make the award as deemed to be in the best interest of the City.
