CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair McLeod called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

A. Public Safety Plan Quality Assurance /Quality Control
The Committee reviewed draft qualifications and scope of work for an independent quality
assurance /quality control consultant to provide advice to the City Council regarding the Public
Safety Plan. Councilmembers expressed support for the draft but requested that the section
on reporting include a provision for quarterly reports "or as otherwise directed." Staff will
return to Committee with a draft Request for Qualifications and more information about the
cost based upon this feedback. RETURN TO COMMITTEE.
B. Contract: Fire Station Architectural and Engineering Services
Staff is seeking Council approval of a contract with Weinstein A +U in an amount not to exceed
$2,089,717.00 for fire station architect and engineering services as part of the Public Safety
Plan. This contract includes architectural /engineering services, programming services, site
selection process assistance, fire station specialty consulting, and geotechnical engineering
services. It is assumed that using one firm for all three stations will yield lower costs and
streamlined processes. Weinstein A +U was selected from an original eleven submissions on the
strength of its experience, design strength and reputation. TCA was another high scoring
candidate and has been tapped to work with Weinstein A +U as a subcontractor on the projects.
Committee members asked clarifying questions. The fire station location report is scheduled to
be completed in the next few weeks. The City Attorney will provide information to Council
regarding legal considerations around the planned location for Station 51. UNANIMOUS

III. MISCELLANEOUS
Staff updated the Committee on the City's continued work with the Tukwila School District on
District building projects.
